My own ignorance frightens me

I have been a little sidetracked lately, and have not really had my head in fiction writing. You know how you can come to love a fictional being, and they walk beside you through your day ( Read more... )

I confess I know very little about Marlowe, but from what little I do know, I can understand why you have fallen for him! If your crush leads to fic I will be very happy to read it :)

I love your description of falling for a character or person so hard that you want to know everything about them. That strange giddy feeling... I can still vividly remember the improbable astonishment of discovering Archie. It's a rare thing for me :}

PS Did you get my e-mail saying thank you for my wonderful birthday book? It was such a lovely unexpected treat! I am really looking forward to dipping in to it.

Yes, I got your email. I am so glad the little book reached you. I would love to Skype sometime soon-- but probably not this weekend.

In a way it was Archie who led me to Marlowe. Archie has a bit of a thing for Dr Faustus, I think. And there is the whole 'boys and tobacco,' thing.

Anyway, in my addled brain they somehow go together.

I identify with that falling in love with a character sooooooooooo much.

I hated history at school. All dates and facts and general boredom. No sense of a 'feel' for a time. Now I love immersing myself in a period, through as much contemporary stuff as possible.

Ah, Marlowe. A great reckoning in a small room...

Have you read KC Warwick's Prove a Villain?

Yes I read it. Liked it a lot. Very evocative. And i liked the way he was shown as a nice guy-- which he seems to have been, despite his getting stabby sometimes.

Oh how I wish I had a Fellow of Tudor Lit to help me swoon over Marlowe...

Falling in love with Archie is a dizzying thing. But then there was Edrington!

Archie: one 10,000-word fic and a bunch of smaller ones, including two takes on the Death Fix. Edrington? Well, once I changed his name, there's this 78,500-word NOVEL, which has gone off to Samhain Press and eventually I'll hear back...

Well, yes, of course. But t wasn't really Horatio's devoted second-in-command I was thinking about when I wrote my lieutenant, though I certainly WAS thinking about Paul McGann, blue eyes, lovely accent, and all.
