I have something wonderful. Yesterday we got tax refund. I went out and bought a Kindle. Big expense for me, but the rest is for bills, and we can get textbooks on it. Now I don't have to feel so left out, and can read all those downloads

I also have some recs I can pass along if you want! I use mine primarily for reading original AoS stuff from google books or for reading charliecochrane's Cambridge Fellows novels.
Can you believe that I have never read Moby Dick though?! I am a philistine.

i want to get some POW accounts too. You probably know how to do that.
I think that I read Melville much too young the first time. He is so much better now! And when we are 70, he will be better still. So you have time. And you are so not a Philistine.
And there is Archie pretending to read, while listening to Simpson being horrible. I think that may be my favorite icon ever.

The Cambridge Fellows books are fab and I can can point you to the download linked for some of the POW stuff anytime. It's also worth getting Osler's biography of Pellew, think that was the first thing I downloaded.
I'm afraid I am a bit of a Philistine when it comes to American literature. I am woefully under read there.
Same scene, a minute later. Poor Archie.

I've just remembered, didn't charliecochrane say that you and download Lessons in Love free for a limited period of time? She mentioned it in the post about the fabulous octopus :)

You are so right about the language, Vsee. Melville has a dexterous self aware voice that is a joy to wallow in. There is something there that is a little reminiscent of Mark Twain, although Twain is not so pretty.
Anyway, I am writing the next H and A chapter too. I have not gone over to intake only! Should be up in the next few days.
