>>I am between jobs again, have been resting for the past few weeks, sleeping late, waking to blue and yellow light. I look around and think, this is so beautiful, I should write it down, and then some other thing happens, and the day ends, and I have not.<<
At least one type of flash fiction could work great, a postcard story. Get some local postcards, or photograph your home and make them into postcards, then write.
Two poetic forms are also ideal for this: haiku and acrostics.
The idea is to make something so short and easy, you can jot it down the moment you think of it, before you get called away. Snapshot literature has an old and honorable history.
I can do a haiku in 5 minutes, or sit down and write a string of them. Granted I've been doing it for decades, but it's an easy form to learn if you stick to the basics (three lines, 5-7-5 syllables, something about nature) instead of trying to follow all the more arcane rules.
>> If I were to put fiction up here, just as a place to save it, I mean the kind I used to do, would anyone like it? Would anyone out there still want to read it? LJ seems much diminished, but I too have been part of the shrinkage.<<
LJ has been getting worse for years, and after the Russian takeover, most people left for Dreamwidth. Since DW has an echo function to LJ, many folks use that. If you want to get a DW journal you could set to echo here on LJ and your current fans would still see it.
