One more year, another tree

Dec 22, 2013 21:37

Today, for no reason I can fathom, it was about 75 f. Went to the store in my T shirt. Stopped off on the way back to buy a Christmas tree. I have bought trees in the warm before of course, when we lived in Florida. I remember stopping off in a field to get one there, and watching the man getting ready to cut it down. He poked vigorously at the base of the tree with a long handled hoe. "Checking for rattlesnakes." He said.

Anyway, no snakes here today. We carried a very tiny tree home. It is sitting on top of my sea-chest. I have decorated it with paper flowers, and a string of cranberries. (They are the right size to be Christmas balls for it, which shows how small it is!) I have also put on it a William Howard Taft action figure. He is not especially festive, but there he was, after all. C made a paper star for the top. I suppose I may get a little string of lights tomorrow. tiny ones.

Anyway, it smells good, and we can array the gifts on the sea-chest around it. Maybe I will take a picture then. If so I will post it.

Tomorrow is supposed to be colder again.
