A stain with just water? Odd. I wash my prints, cotton or polyester, by hand in cold water using a detergent (or liquid soap or whatever it's called) labelled for "fine clothes". It works well and it seems to do no harm to prints. Not that I wash them frequently, as mine are mostly on clothes that don't have contact with the skin. But I wash everything this way and so far so good, my pieces look happy enough.

I don't know how good it could be for removing stains, never needed to remove any (thank god, lol). Try looking for some fine clothes detergent, I think it'd be worth the try. You fill a tub/sink/bucket with cold water, add a measure of that soap (the bottle has a cup that filled suffices for 10 liters of water), agitate the water till it mixes in and bubbles are formed, soak the clothes in and leave them underwater for 15 min. Come back and gently rub the places that had the most contact with sweat/stains/whatever, empty the tub and finish soaking in clean water to remove the soap.

I believe this is the method that causes the least wear to the clothes. I don't trust machines doing it for me >_<

The link above looks good, but tl;dr. I'll read it up later :p

I would search on subjekt. However if the print get stain by a few drops of water I would have my second thoughts about soaking it in.
