January 2015 Wardrobe Post
Last year I didn't do a wardrobe post because I'd only just started out in lolita and only had a few pieces. In the course of a year I've acquired a not-particularly-cohesive but decent mostly Taobao/Bodyline wardrobe with a few brand items. Although it's not very exciting (only a dozen main pieces), I wanted to do a wardrobe post this year so I had a record of my progress.
This year I think there have been two main influences on my lolita style. Firstly, I've gained a lot more experience with different shopping services, brands and indie brands. Before 2014 I'd only bought through Taobaospree but this year I've usedJaponica Market, FromJapan, Clobbaonline and My-Lolita-Dress as well (I wouldn't normally go through resellers, but they had items in stock that had sold out on Taobao). Getting to grips with Japanese auction sites has meant I have more brand items in my wardrobe. Late this year I also joined my first comm, which helped me to take stock of how I was progressing in the fashion and also keep up more easily with current trends. I've also improved how I organize my wardrobe, by getting new shelves and shifting lolita items from their place on the back of my door, the floor and my ordinary wardrobe to new shelves and a clothing rail. Doing this post actually made me realise it'd be a lot easier to find the accessories I need if I had separate boxes for hair accessories, wristcuffs/bracelets/rings, and necklaces and detachable bows, so that'll probably be my next project.

As might be obvious from what's in the mail, I've started moving my main pieces away from black and I'm trying to expand in a wine direction. I also need to make my existing black pieces more versatile by getting a black bag and expanding my selection of black accessories. Joining a comm has really made me realise that accessories are my weakest area - I need hair accessories to match the non-black colours in my wardrobe too, and a classic bag. Some flat-heeled gothic shoes would be handy too, and a black blouse with a peter pan collar. I also want to buy a lot more gold-embroidered velvet pieces (black, wine, navy or maybe green) this year.
I also intend to sell a few things: the purple colourway of the Infanta dress I have arrived more purple and less plum than I expected so I want to sell it, and the Bodyline heeled Mary Janes seem to run large so I'll probably sell those too. I've also wanted to get rid of that pink and blue Gothic Lolita Wigs bob since I first got it, since it wasn't true to the colour in the stock photo and I realised pretty quickly that sweet was not for me. Perhaps this year I'll finally sell it.
