1. Don't ever, ever, send payment as a gift to someone you don't know. When you do that, you forfeit your buyer's protection rights with paypal. That option is there for low risk transactions; aka you giving a gift for nothing in return. Because those transactions are low risk, and often charitable, Paypal waives the normal fee. As far as paypal is concerned you intended to give that money away for nothing in return.

2. If you used a Credit Card, call the credit card company to cancel the charge. If your paypal is attached to your bank, you can try calling the bank. If you paid from your paypal balance you are probably out of luck.

3. If you feel it was a significant amount of money, contact your local police.

Yes, Paypal will refund you if the seller don't reply after 10 days since the dispute is converted in claim. The refund can take more time than expected if the scammer's Paypal account has no funds in it, but it's just a matter of time.
I hope the issue gets solved soon, best for luck! :)

Thank you for this reassurance (: I'm not in dire need of receiving my funds immediately, so it's no problem.

Thank you for telling me this!

Hi, a friend of mine dealt with something similar. I feel the need to mention, the actual lacemarket user lilith4th is NOT a scammer. Many of my friends have bought and sold successfully from her. A scammer (the person who scammed you), took advantage of how many rare items the actual lilith4th was selling and created that account. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. You did the right thing by filing a claim. I wish you the best of luck in this awful situation. :(

Hello,
Yes I am very aware of that now. Lilith4th is a very sweet girl (I talked to her briefly on LM) and I'm sorry she got dragged into all of this!

Thank you, I hope it turns out all okay ^^

Hello ^^
Sorry for the delayed response, I'm actually having an operation very soon and I wanted to run all my errands before I'll be resting in recovery.

I will reply to your message!

I'm happy to know that I wasn't the only one who this girl talked to. Generally I don't send gift payments. I've only ever done so with shopping services for discounts, however I was very desperate for a parasol and it made me very happy to receive that message at first. I just wonder whose proof photos those were now.

I also hope to get my money back once I escalate it to a claim.

Thank you ^^

You've been given some good advice, so I will try not to repeat anything.

In the future, if someone gives you off-site feedback (LM, Ebay, Etsy, and so forth), message that off-site account and wait for a reply there. That way you can make sure that the person who contacted you actually does own that other account, and that they're not impersonating someone else.

Right now it sounds like you can just wait for Paypal. Good luck!

That is a good idea, I was just so excited to receive a parasol I let my general cautious self down.

Thank you for your reply ^^

Just letting you know that the scammer actually posted on /cgl/ in the BST thread (http://boards.4chan.org/cgl/thread/7697755 , post 7713919) trying to scam someone else, and saying she photoshopped a passport and shit. It might be a troll who is trying way too hard but it seems like it's actually her. She actually posted a picture of the email she received from paypal for the dispute but it's deleted now, although you can find it in the archive. I'm not sure if there's anything else you can do about it but she could get in some serious trouble if she was found out, so if Paypal can track her IP or anything I'd let them know.

I did find it in the archive, thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. I know for sure I'll get my money back now (I mean she even wrote that), but I just wish I knew who this girl was. I bet she's out making more accounts to scam other users as well.
