I'm sure people will come in and give you actual quote reviews, but as food for thought, you get what you pay for. 80 dollars for a coat is cheap even by non-Lolita standards. My Liz Lisa coat from last year cost 160 bucks and wasn't warm (then again most coats sold by gyaru brands aren't). Even my Express peacoat from high school was like 150 bucks. 80 dollars for a coat will not get you quality, IMO. To add to that it being a Lolita coat and that's like the equivalent of getting a 30 dollar regular coat (if you even can find one). My personal opinion is that Bodyline being a costume company and not a real clothing designer brand, their clothes are meant to play dress up in, not to wear regularly as real clothes. As such, I doubt it will be warm but if others have a different experience then I'll stand corrected. As for quality, nothing Bodyline makes is of good quality. Their materials are cheap. For a pannier or shoes or a blouse that's okay but for a coat you might regret it. :/ Why not get a brand coat used, instead? I bought two used AP coats for this winter, one was 15,000 yen and another 20,000- they were more expensive than many other options out there. Mbok has a ton of used coats up right now. If that's still too much you could order one from a Chinese brand like infanta, their reviews are good. I would personally stay away from a costume brand for something as important as a coat. Just my opinion.

I disagree. We don't even know how warm she needs her coat to be. I live in California, last year I bought a non-Lolita coat from Target for around $50. That things kept me toasty all winter, even when my family visited the snowy areas to go sledding, it never let me down. It's quality certainly held up for the price and then some, since it's not as though it's falling apart now and will more than hold up for a few more seasons.

Not to mention, Bodyline sells costumes AND regular clothing. Tons of Lolitas wear their clothing as actual daywear and not simply to play fairy dress-up, so it's a bit rude to state otherwise. Yes, their materials are cheaper than brand and not as detailed, I'm not denying that. But you're acting as though Bodyline is going to tear at the seams within a day. You're statement that NOTHING Bodyline makes it of good quality is outright false, so please stop spreading this rumor.

Ah, I think that's an important distinction: some of their clothes are cosplay, some are lolita clothing. I guess in the eyes of some people, you might understand how they might not draw the same distinction (after all, many people wouldn't walk into a Halloween costume shop and expect to find clothes that they could wear on a daily basis). So in a way, you can see how people might walk past a shop, see some costumes in the window, and assume everything inside is a costume without going in.

Sorry, not trying to start drama. It just seems like people are getting really upset about this issue, but I think there's just some misunderstanding from different parties. :/

Only one person is getting upset...

Maybe I'm confused, but it appears that several girls have responded saying they feel insulted/offended by the OP in this thread. It just seems like I've observed a lot of insults being flung

Sorry, I meant to clarify...there are insults and hurt feelings being expressed by multiple parties... that's what I mean about people feeling upset.

Oh yeah, I get it now sorry about that. I meant the only person initially getting upset was the OP of this specific thread.

I agree, i bought a rather nice coat from billabong last winter for thirty dollars, and it was a very nice heavy coat. I live in Vegas, so we rarely get to 30 degrees (Farenheit). Its just the wind im mainly concerned about.

Bodyline coats in the Lolita section are NOT costume. My coat is of excellent materials/quality and super snug and looks super cute. The quality of Bodyline is super IMO and that is why Bodyline is so popular. It's pretty damn rude and insulting to suggest Bodyline is for dress up /costume play only.

I agree that it's rude. Its make feel like that, since I regularly wear bodyline, all I'm wearing is poor quality costume products even though I'm not.

My favorite part of your claiming Bodyline is cheap and bad is that you say buying a pannier from there is okay when everyone knows their petticoats are absolute shit and not worth the money. You can get a petticoat a million times better than any of theirs in a Halloween store for cheaper. Or get a great petticoat for the same price from Taobao. You clearly have NO IDEA what you're talking about. So that there means you're not even remotely qualified to give her any advice on this subject.

Also, their coats are just fine. I own one and layered with a sweater for January and February (when it's coldest here), the damn thing has not failed me in a New England weather.

Plus, did you even think to consider maybe she's on a bloody budget? If she is, then she sure as hell cannot afford $160 for a coat plus shipping. She makes $80 sound like it's worth a lot to her, so chances are she doesn't just happen to have $150-200 lying around for a single piece she's going to wear less than the half of the time she's wearing lolita. The money would be better invested in a good JSK from a brand or a few JSKs from Bodyline.

Good price for a coat or not, most people don't have the money to throw $80 at a coat that might not be good quality which is why they asked about the quality. Don't be so rude.

Bodyline is actually very good quality on some items, don't be such a snob about it because it's cheap. Some of it is costume quality, yes, some of it is awful but some of it is wonderful quality. Especially their shoes and coats.

Yeah :D The only reason i had the money and decided to splurge on a coat was because it was recently my birthday, and i got cash C:

I appreciate your honesty, but i dont really find anything wrong with bodyline, aside form their weird messes every once in a while. I think that bodyline is actually more useful as regular clothes than AP or BTSSB, because i can just throw my bodyline in the wash and nothing bad will happen to it. :)

I'm sorry but the price does not always determine how well something is. $80 for a coat is pretty good and you can get really warm long lasting winter jackets for that price if not lower. Considering the fact that I worked in a discount clothing store where we sold jackets and coats that originally cost $200+ they did not last that long for me and others. Bodyline's quality has gone up in the recent years and I feel and have seen from first hand experience that the items they sell for a high price are worth the money.

Though if the original poster wants something good for a decent price she can always check many taobao stores. But I say take the gamble with bodyline, I've seen a few of their winter coats in persona nd they seem warm. Girls I know had no complaints.

I've never had a coat that ran me more than $30 in my life, and mine have served me quite well. Maybe it's not a rule to live by, but sometimes you can get good things for cheap.
