I own the first parasol in black, and as somebody who, most of the time, dislikes short parasols (and also the ones that are too long), I remember making sure to choose a very middle-sized one when I bought it (in BTSSB Paris, so I had other parasols next to mine to compare their lengths). I find its birdcage shape to be very useful, especially when it's raining, due to the fact that it's slightly "covering" you from all sides (I don't know if I'm really making sense ^^'). It's curious what you said about the birdcage shape and raining. My lolita friends said me that I can't use the birdcage Baby parasol for rain because it's too small. Personally I don't mind because I only want it for sun. I'm from Galicia (north of Spain) and here rains very much and very strong (with wind, etc.). My umbrellas usually don't "live" so much haha And I like use a lot of "puffy", so when it rains and I want to dress lolita I use very big umbrellas to cover me all haha Now I think that maybe birdcage shape umbrellas can be very useful to me! ^^

Ah, I live in the most rainy part of France, and my BtssB birdcage umbrella was able to survive wind, heavy rain and heavy hail too without any damage ^^ ! But if you intend to use it for sun protection only, then it'll last even longer (but BtssB umbrellas are strong in general, so you don't have to worry about it). But you know, it's a bit strange to explain, but it's a "wide" birdcage shape, not a narrow one, so it protects you very well.
