Sounds like something that would go on at my university (San Francisco). :(

There are a lot of freshman from out of the area that gawk at us, and I wouldn't be surprised if they did something like that.

In San Fran, with BtSSB there and all, I'd assume more people would get it. O.o

1) Just because BtSSB/AP/h.Naoto are here, doesn't mean that it is well known to the general public

2) A lot of people at the school are from Southern California, and to them we are just as eclectic as the rest of San Francisco. Just like everywhere else, Lolitas are treated as a spectacle, a sideshow attraction. We have to tough it out here just like everywhere else. Tourists are also guilty of treating us as a spectacle.

I would think it would be at least a little more known with many girls from the area/elsewhere going shopping in San Francisco.

I find that so unfair, we're normal people who just like an unusual fashion. It really should make no difference what you are wearing! That is why I love being in Greenwich in NY. No one cares since I'm never the most unusually dressed person walking around the streets.

Yeah, the locals are great. It's just the tourists and newbies from outside if the city that are a pain (I grew up in the area).
