Taobaospree

Okay, so I'm finally ordering the Dear Celine Dress and a mini hat from white moon from their respective Taobao shops via Taobao spree. But, as I'm inputting the stuff and asking my dad some questions, since he told me he wants nothing to do with it until it's payment time, but I still had questions. So he's prowling through the site, turns to me and says, "How do you know if this place is legit? How do you know they're not just going to run off with our money?" trying to make it look like I did absolutely no research what-so-ever and just acting like I'm just some stupid teenager that buys stuff cause "ohh shiny, let me buy it online even though it's a really shady seller and I'll never see my item or money again."
Now, I've already looked up reviews and such, and judging about all the talk I've heard about Taobaospree on this website without even looking for it, it's legit, and I tell him this. But he still makes me look up a review.
Now after that ordeal, I ask my dad what shipping he wants, and then he asks, "Do they have U.S. Postal Service?" and at first I'm like, "Dad, lol, it's CHINA." and he get's all flabbergasted. So I go to the site and list what shipping options they have, and he's like, "You didn't answer my question." when I clearly DID by reading him the options. So, I repeat it again with, "All they offer is..." and he's still like, "Y U NO ANSWER MY QUESTION!?" So he takes my laptop, and him and my mom huddle with it for a while, and they're like, "We no understand. Tell us, Sara." So I read nice and slowly the options, and then my dad's like, "Lol airmail! That MUST be the U.S. Postal Service." And it's like, yeah dad, whatever floats your boat. Cause really, I don't know much about the shipping, and when I plug stuff in to research it, I come up with shipping rates of e-cigarettes from china, and chinese sites in chinese.
And THEN, oh, and then he gets on a, "WHAT!? They don't tell you how much shipping is until AFTER you payed for the items!?" and I tell him to cool, it's because they need to weight it to see how much it'll cost. But no, he INSISTS that they will scam us into paying $900 for shipping (that's the actual amount he said), just like ebay. And I tell him it's not e-bay, it's taobaospree, and if they did that, no one would use them. When I sent the e-mail I asked how much they think the shipping would be, and as of now, I am awaiting a reply (sent it 10 minutes ago, and I know it might take a day). But I can see that if they say something along the lines of, "I don't know, we have to weigh it." my dad's going to have a hissy fit and refuse to buy the items for me. And since I don't have a paypal, and neither does my mom, I will not get the dress I've been working hard for. I was originally was working around the house for like, months, for something else, but I want this dress ten times more. And let me tell you something, I mean working HARD. Like, cleaning the bathroom till I had to stop because my hands were turning red from the chemicals/pressure, even though I was wearing gloves. Watching the pets, alone, for two days, all the while the power going on and off (off more than on), and hurricane force winds and rain outside, whilst there was a massacre about 20 minutes from house. Yay. And much more.

TL;DR: My dad thinks Taobaospree is a scam and even though we sent in the order form, he won't buy unless they tell him how much the shipping is going to be for the 2nd payment (I'm sure they will, but I still need some advice), and I think some reassurance from you guys will help him to realize that not every online shop/shopping service/anything online is a scam. And if you guys could say how much airmail shipping costed you (I'm just getting a dress and minihat, so the price you payed to ship a dress would be fine) he'll be less, "SCAMMMM!" since he'll know how much you guys actually payed. Cause watch, when they tell him how much'll cost, he'll say, "They say that now! But soon we'll have a $900 shipping fee to pay!)

Thank you so much guys ;A; It's a bit early to respond to everything so I'm posting a BIIIG~ thank you right here.
(>3< p.s. I feel sorta like an idiot, I should've waited to cool down to write this, my dad's a good guy, and was just worried for his youngest daughter. Who lacks much common sense about 85% of the time.)
