US-Japan Shipping Ban to be Lifted!

Nov 30, 2010 17:26

Hi everyone!

I have wonderful news for those lolitas living in America waiting on packages from Japan, or those lolitas living in Japan waiting to send things to family and friends in America!

As most of you know, Japan Post banned all packages over 453 grams that used an airplane to ship to the US starting November 17th.  You can read about that ( Read more... )

!news, ordering: shipping

LOL that was quick. :P I wonder if they got reams of complaints and realised the loss of business/trust wasn't worth the extended ban.

all I know is that I am glad he told me BEFORE I sent the 5,000 yen worth of packages out... Thankfully not so many of my shoppers personally had to use a proxy. I wish they had thought about how extensive of a ban they were enacting before they enacted it...

Thanks for the update.

Do you know the reason behind why they had the ban in the first place?

I personally think JP post couldn't be bothered to meet the US's new stricter, more time consuming and therefore more expensive screen procedures enacted after the printer bombs from Yemen were caught en route to the US. Perhaps they realized they were losing more money than they were saving, especially at this time of year (they are a business now after all!). The fact that they have retracted the ban and made it include only printer related items seems like they looked into it a bit more and decided to go a less sweeping route.

If I recall correctly the ban was just on packages of personal goods. If it was a company sending a package it was okay...both ways it's good that it's lifted.

Companies were affected too if they didn't have an existing shipping contract with Japan Post. (And not all brands do.)
