The Western Lolita Project

Hello again everyone, I have returned for more assistance on my current graphic design project!

I'm working on a two page magazine spread on the western lolita community. For this I'll need write a rather lengthy essay and I was wondering if anyone had ideas on how to start it.
I have written a rough draft that is about a page long, but this ( Read more... )

I'm afraid I'm far too close to my deadline to simply set it aside, I've been working on it for roughly a week but I am not happy with it yet. Thank you for the advice though. <3

It is actually. XD For the paper, anyway. I have roughly two hours to work on it tomorrow before I turn it in.

Just a tip from another Graphic Designer, you may want to start standing on your own two feet when it comes to doing your work. Asking for titles is one thing, but then asking about content is another. Real graphic designers often only have one day to complete an entire design project, so having a tight deadline isn't really an excuse for needing people to do your work for you.

I'm asking for suggestions, not necessarily "YOU GUYS WHAT SHOULD I WRITE". I have written several rough drafts and I was simply curious as to what the community would like to see in it.

Alright, you gave the impression this wasn't really something for the community though? Isn't it for your work?

Well it's for my graphic design class. It's not work, I'm not getting paid for it, it's just an exercise in publication design.

It is hard to provide creative advice or a good quote to use without knowing exactly what you want. If you are looking for a fairy tale quote, try seeing if you can find a story collected by Andrew Lang that fits what you are looking for and look in the story for a good quote. For last minute searching though, this isn't the best advice. Andrew Lang wrote all of the color fairy tale books and he collected tons of stories.

O lawd, do you think you can post in a more readable color in the future. Pink on white is rather hard to read, especially when you've been staring at a computer screen for more than 30 hours in the last 3 days...XD ( ... )

I know you're doing this more from a graphic design standpoint, but from a journalistic standpoint starting out with a quote is really cheap. XD;;; In most cases, magazine stories start with an allusion/story/episode to set up a narrative/introduce a reader to a subject/pull the reader in before getting to figures and research.

Do you have any lolita friends? Ask them to tell you a story about the first time they saw lolita, the first time they wore it, or what not. Don't start with their quotation, though--paraphrase what they said into something interesting and digestable before leading into a quote. Then you can work in more information about lolita.
