Brand Quality Question: MAM

Nov 03, 2007 23:37

In terms of quality, how would you rate MAM? On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being best. Also, if could rate the other major brands (BABY, AP, others) for context, that would be great. :3

(Rating in terms of construction, fabric quality, lace quality, etc.)

Apologies if there is already such a post! m(_ _)m

I think FW, ETC and JM are arguable~ for FW their winter lines are better than their spring ones but even so it's a bit of a hit-miss. Their current empire OP was velour not velveteen but the floral one was velveteen. I can vouch only for what I have, and honestly I've never seen another brand do a seamless hem/waistband where you can't see the sitches for the lace or lining (folded inside out). Plus, it's 90% wool and the only other brand I know that makes almost pure wool skirts is JM

JM I remember that their winter lines are considerably better than their spring ones. Even within their winter lines, certain items are better constructed than others. I think their velveteen items are best and they use 6-panelled bodice compared to to VM/MM's 3/4-panels which gives a better cut.

ETC has a really weird problem - some of their items border on a 6-7 but I also have another item which is closer to a 8-9. It really really varies from line to line, excluding season.

I don't particularly like VM much because of their icky lining - it's so weirdly stiff and made of acetate, not besmilk polyester. Also, their fabric is screenprint not woven. AP annoys me slightly too because the lace and fabric doesn't match D: it's wine lace on red fabric!

ahhh sorry for sounding so ranty~ I do agree that JetJ varies like hell though....I don't buy from them for that reason.
