Hello, I really hope this is allowed.. I'm searching for a certain store or even the person that owns it. There was a lady in Europe that opened her own (or co-owned) Lolita shop. My major dream is to open my own in the US. I would love to find her (or the shop's site so I can contact her) and get some advice. (Like, did she have to go to Japan to ( Read more... )

Opening a lolita shop in the US would kick ass.
Not just an online shop, but an acual "you walk in and buy it" shop.
My best suggestion would be to go to a large city or a city with a high population of people who wear alternative fashion.
You could also sell The Gothic and Lolita Bibles to futher educate people in the style. Who knows, you could start a huge trend.

Yes~ That was my general plan <3 Though it would be so hard to move away from Dallas.. I've lived in the DFW area almost my whole life.
Thank you for the suggestions as well~ <3

haha, I'm glad for that~ Though I found out it would be next to impossible to get brands from Japan to let me sell some of their stuff in my shop in the US v_v The only reason the lady in Netherlands was able to do it is because of her friend who had contacts.

I might try and find private sellers in the US that want to join forces and sell their stuff in my shop? I dunno.. I'm hoping to get some opinions soon.

from what i've seen of her posts in egl, she has gone to japan to meet with designers, etc of the brands she wanted to sell in her store. it's a foreign market, so they'll want to be assured that doing business with you is benefitial. I'm sure that studying business/marketing would help you A LOT, since it's hard to get a new, small business off the ground.

Ahh, I see. Maybe she can give me some advice on how to even get in contact with such people.. I don't know if I'd be so influential. (Really, really can't wait for school now =u=;;). Thank you dear~

She does come here, and has meetings with the brand owners and designers and such. Which makes me incredibly giddy, because it led to me meeting Fujiwara-san, my favorite designer, last month (cuz I did interpreting for her)! Yay for coolness by association!! I'd never get to meet her on my own! XD hahaha
Good luck!

I don't know... but I am opening a boutique next August in Minneapolis. I plan on carrying Japanese brands. I am more interesting in gothic/punk and vk types, but if there is a local market for it I would love to also carry lolita.

If you guys want I can document the process for you.

That's awesome~ Congradulations! ^^ (I would love to own an overall Lolita store, but I, too, would love to sell some punk/VK clothes (Just depends on what brands I can try and contact).

And I think everyone would love that~!

(Also.. mind if I ask you a few questions? If you don't, please e-mail me at: butterflydemise@yahoo.com <3 Thank you. It would be nice to get some information from more than one person with a shop)
