ok, we're married, we own a house, blah blah blah.
we finally broke down and started netflix. a combination of being too poor to buy dvds and a desire to finally watch a bunch of movies we've been curious about (and that we'd never be able to find at a rental store) pushed us over the edge, combined with a lull in mba classes for me and a need to do more relaxing things after working on the house or yard during the day!
First movie was Wong Kar-Wai's In the Mood for Love, which is a beautifully shot story of two people who move in next door to each other, only to discover that their busy spouses are cheating on them with each other.
Next is 2046, which is a loose sequel to that movie. Then we're gonna mix it up a bit with Krzysztof Kieslowski's The Double Life of Veronique, which I hadn't even heard of but as we loved his Three Colors trilogy and this is apparently also a very good movie, we're going to try that out.
It is funny that our queue is mostly foreign and drama right now. I've stuck some modern film-noir style movies on there as well. I'll have to see if kate ends up adding anything (she pretty much likes the same kind of movies I like, which makes it convenient for us to get movies as well as allows her to not worry about finding things to watch).
