Yesterday I went skiing. Well, first Carols and Christian convinced Erin and I to rent snowboards instead. That was interesting, but didn´t work out to well. We made it down the frist hill (in about an hour) clinging to the guys for our lives. By the time lunch came, I was ready to put on some skis and enjoy the mountains. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. We went to El Colorado, which is about 2 hours up the Andes from Santiago, thus providing a great view of the gray could of smog that covers the city. That was a little bit sad, but in all other directions the view was breathtaking.
The car ride home was both beautiful and extremely painful. My butt was fully thawed from the morning of snowboarding and our driver did nothing but slam on the breaks and accelerate around dangerous curves the entire way home. Which was two hours longer than the ride there, due to a taco (traffic jam) in Santiago. But, the sun was setting as we ascended the mountains and the boys kept me from being bored for the five hour ride. They sang almost the entire time. It is hard to explain, but music is such an important part of their culture. Even if it is not Chilean music (which is rare, most music is from the US), they always find a way to incorporate it into their day, and it makes them so damn happy. I can´t wait to hang out with the guys again, I think Erin and I finally found what we were looking for in male friends. They are great.
