I love going to the bars here. The music can not be topped. Last night, they played The Limbo, two salsa songs, and then Dr. Dre. It is so fun. Last night was Paula´s, the secretary at the international departments, birthday. We went to a bar in Valparaiso called Juevo. Juevo means Egg. I think that is weird. She left around 11pm, which here is very, very early, but but that time practically the entire international department was there. The Germans are so fun to dance with and some of the professors from the school came. I got wasted and danced my ass off with them. It was so fun, the international dept. is pretty small, and our spanish classes are really small. So, the teachers are our buddies now too. I love it. My friend Holger dances like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, but no one ever tells him why we are laughing at him. All in all, besides getting molested my my dancing partner (which was too bad, because he was really good looking) and the horrible heat that was melting me in the bar, it was fun. I got my friend Erin and I a ride home from the molester... what a small price to pay right! On the way to the car we passed one of Pinochet´s apartments and drunkenly screamed up at the building in sloppy spanish for him to come down and say hi. He didn´t, but we got a ride to the car from some nice police officer that were around the corner.
Tonight I feel a little bit like I am at home. I didn´t go out, just sat and talked on the phone and to Sandra via aim for hours. I got a cell phone! It cost like 30 dollars and I can pay for the minutes before I use them. I think next week I will buy a card for it that will let me call the United States too, but I am not sure. I talked to Mattie last week, which was awesome.
Did I mention that when I went to Santaigo, I spent a ton of money on art. I bought two pieces. I love them, but I think I need to give one to my mom as a gift when I come home. I think I am getting a cold... due to kissing a boy after he went surfing. It is fucking cold here and these Chilean surfers are crazy, yet strangely accustomed to the icy water. If you are from Hawaii, you should be more careful surfing so near to Antarctica,. Idiots.
Tomorrow is the BBQ with the military officers we met a few weeks ago at Goose. They are sooooooo cute. I feel special because we get to go on base again. It is pretty cool. Except the guards scare me. More after the fiesta tomorrow.
