I'm a bad fan

Yeah. So, like... I still haven't watched last week's episode. I'm sure I will eventually, but right now... yeah, I just don't care. Mouryoumaru is boring.

However, this week was Mt. Azusa, so I had to watch that because I actually really like that arc. (Imagine that! Me liking something in the series that I'm supposedly obsessed with! XD)

Anyway...

We begin with Kagome and KOUGA! Hell, yeah! This is the end of 448, which I'm guessing is where it left off last week. (I really need to bring myself to watch it. XD)

Episode Title: Azusa-yama no Reibyou, which translates to KAGOME IS AWESOME!

Suddenly we're with Naraku in 452. Boring. (I'm a great fan. I get bored by the plot. XD)

Moving on... Back to the end of 448 again, with Kikyou and Miroku's conversation. I remember when all this was happening in the manga and I was SO scared that Miroku was going to die. Then I... kinda sorta hoped that he would because I became so annoyed with the series. LOL I'M A TERRIBLE FAN.

We head into 449, which is highly condensed so that it's just Kikyou, Inuyasha, and Kohaku. No Sango, Kagome, or KOUGA. =( It saddens me that there's sooooo much Kouga in this part of the manga, but most of it has been taken out of the anime. Isn't it bad enough he ended up getting gypped by RT? (SPOILER) It's also weird the way the anime will have different characters say lines because they don't have the original character in the scene. Like here, IY says a line that actually belongs to Kagome. I guess it isn't really a big deal, but, meh... I'm obsessive when it comes to canon and think it should be adapted exactly as it was in the original. I have unrealistic expectations in the world.

Jumping to 452 again (apparently we're skipping the Yama-Arashi arc entirely), Kagome's sleeping and using her backpack as a pillow, and she really looks... quite adorable. ^_^ Apparently we're also ignoring the fact that IY's awake because he had a dream about the time when Kikyou sealed him. Something he hadn't dreamt about in a while... SUSPICIOUS.

Kikyou and Kohaku in 453. This follows canon exactly, until Inuyasha notices Kikyou's scent. The anime added one of Kikyou's butterfly shikigami things fluttering past him and then dissolving into sparkles. O_o Then the conversation with the woman is... rearranged. And Kouga, Miroku, and Shippou's conversation happens while they're still standing there, while originally they were traveling. I don't know why the anime makes changes like this.

454 is handled well, for the most part. It's condensed a bit, but it pretty much follows the manga. Interestingly, they take out the line after Kagome wakes up and thinks about how Inuyasha and Kikyou were together. 455 is a bit rearranged, but the gist is the same. It seems like the anime is at least making some kind of effort to follow the manga, so I guess I gotta give 'em credit for that. (I am so jaded! XD)

VIZ is still translating inukkoro as pup. -_____- When Kouga says he'll carry Kagome, she just replies, "Yeah," in the manga. But the anime has her go, "Thank you, Kouga-kun," in this kinda snobbish way that makes her seem like a bitch. It's as if she's like, "Yeah, Inuyasha, you stay here with Kikyou, and I'll just use Kouga instead!" I don't like it. >.> I so love when Kagome tells IY she doesn't wanna look at his face for a while and then wonders if she's really been corrupted contaminated, and IY's just like, "No, you're always like this..." It's so awesome. XD And, amazingly, I actually like the way it was done in the anime! =O

COMMERCIAL BREAK!

As they travel, Kagome remembers all the crap Kikyou told her about getting the bow, but they took out her thinking about how Kikyou hates her, yet IY still always chooses her. (Aw, Kagome. *hugs*)

Sometimes I wonder... is Kohaku actually human? XD I mean, he runs like IY, jumping around and practically flying and stuff. And it's not just the anime, it's in the manga, too. Sign that kid up for the Olympics! XD Even though the line wasn't in the manga, I seriously love the delivery of Jaken's "Tasukete kudasai, Sesshoumaru-sama. Itai~" when he gets bitten by the snake. It was just awesome. XD

I don't like that the anime took out Kagome thinking about how she can't help being upset over Inuyasha and Kikyou. ("I'm not a god!") I mean, she's basically like, "Well, duh, I'm not perfect!" And it just adds to Kagome's awesomeness.

We continue following the manga pretty well, though there's still rearranging and stuff. But it flows well, so... I guess I should just be glad the pacing doesn't seem to be on speed anymore.

Kagome's confrontation with the illusionary Kikyou is exactly the reason why I was looking forward to this episode, because Kagome is just so AWESOME. I'm so glad the anime didn't completely screw it up. Satsuki Yukino did a great job, and I LOVE that the gorgeous orchestral version of Inuyasha and Kagome's theme was playing in the background. It's my favorite version of their theme and it just added so much to the scene. The whole thing was just really powerful and I loved it.

So, to sum up... Kagome is AWESOME! Next week: Kikyou DIES (SPOILER) and they just HAD to show the kiss in the promo (GROSS) ...Otanoshimi ni... -_-

inuyasha, kanketsu-hen, anime
