And so it ends...

Mar 31, 2010 03:06

Man, it seems like just yesterday it was July and I was WTFing over them announcing that they were even making this series. And now it's over! Where have I been? Oh, right. Not watching. XD

Even though I pretty much failed on the whole "I'm gonna watch every episode" thing, I always knew I was going to watch this episode. How could I call myself an obsessive to the point of it probably being unhealthy InuKag fan if I didn't?

Anyway...

The final!episode begins not with the regular OP but with a recap of Kagome and Inuyasha in the meidou from last week. (At least they didn't recap the entire series up to this point, which I was afraid they might do. x_x) This includes re-showing Kappei's sexilicious MEEEIDOOOU ZANGETSU...HAA!`!11 from last week, too. Thirty seconds in and I'm already dying.

Then, in lieu of an opening, they show a picture of Inuyasha while Hanyou Inuyasha plays for ten seconds. It's rather pointless.

Episode Title: Ashita e, which is a Koda Kumi song translates to IT'S ALWAYS BEEN ALL ABOUT INUYASHA AND KAGOME.

Even the title card is special for this episode. Both the background and the music have been changed to better, prettier ones. I love it. <3

Quick scene with Miroku, Sango, and Shippou wondering about Inuyasha and Kagome. Miroku ponders about how, even though they've finally defeated Naraku, now they have to deal with the evils of a pretty little pink ball.

And inside that pretty little pink ball, Inuyasha's slicin' and dicin' youkai left and right so he can save his girl. He sees Midoriko, and the youkai explain that Kagome will take over her battle. Inuyasha's all, "OH, HELL NO!" and blasts them away. Hee. ^_^

Then he sees Naraku, and the youkai explain that he'll reawaken and continue the endless battle with Kagome, because that's her fate, the reason why she was born. Oh, you did NOT just say that in front of Inuyasha!!

And in one of my favorite lines of the entire series, Inuyasha goes over all the things Kagome's taught him and declares that SHE WAS BORN TO MEET HIM. AND THAT HE WAS BORN FOR HER.

BORN FOR EACH OTHER. THEY WERE BORN FOR EACH OTHER. EVEN INUYASHA BELIEVES THAT FATE BROUGHT THEM TOGETHER. How can anyone say he doesn't love her after that? He doesn't need to use the words "I love you." This is his love confession.

I am completely in tears after that. The line on its own makes me cry, but hearing Kappei say it heightened it so much more. There are several lines in the manga that made me think, "God, what I would give to hear Kappei say that." This, most definitely, was one of them. I knew he would hit it out of the park. He delivered it so powerfully. His voice even cracked a little, it was so full of emotion. I love you, Kappei, and I love how beautifully you've brought the character of Inuyasha to life. Just like how Inuyasha was born to meet Kagome, you were born to play this role. And I'll love you forever for it. <333

Ugh, I still really, really hate the Shikon no Tama's voice. For something so evil, it sure sounds awfully lame. The youkai inside it have a better voice than it does. >.>

But you know what I do like? THE MUSIC. It's GORGEOUS! It adds SO MUCH and it's just PERFECT. I LOVE IT. *_*

The youkai are trying to keep Inuyasha away from Kagome, clearly because they're too stupid to realize that NOTHING will keep these two apart. (After all, they're BORN FOR EACH OTHER.) Kagome hears Inuyasha's voice and knows that he's coming for her. He always comes for her. Because she has such faith in her man, an opening becomes visible to Inuyasha and he's able to MEIDOOOOU ZANGETSUHAAAAAAA his way to her.

And the following shall be explained through pictures because OMG ARE THEY NECESSARY.

Together again!

Oh, look, Kagome's eyes are blue. I wonder how that could have happened... >.> <.<

He finally made it back to his girl!

Yeah, I'm crying, too.

They reach for each other. Aww.

HUG.

HUG CLOSE UP.

Awwwwwwwwwwwww.

...?

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*SCREAMING IRL*

THAT'S INUYASHA. HE IS KISSING KAGOME.

THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THINGS I'VE EVER SEEN.

KSAFJISAJRTASIOTJIOASJFDSKFJOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*is dead*

;_______________________; OOOOOOMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!! THEY DID IT. THEY ACTUALLY DID IT. THE ANIME ACTUALLY ADDED A KISS. I'M SO HAPPY!!!!!!! IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL. THE WHOLE THING LASTED FOURTEEN(!) SECONDS. AND IT WAS SHOWN FROM MULTIPLE ANGLES, WITH THEIR GORGEOUS THEME PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND. OMG, IT WAS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT AND I COULD NOT BE MORE IN LOVE WITH IT. THANK YOU, ANIME. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! I just wish RT had done this in the manga. Stupid bitch.

I also love that they put in Kagome's line about it not being an illusion during the kiss. I can't think of a more fitting line for what's going on. I feel like she's talking directly to me, reminding me that I'm not imagining it. XD

Well, as easy as it would be for me to continue going on and on about HOW GLORIOUS THAT KISS WAS, there is still much more episode to go. And while I'm sure Inuyasha and Kagome would like to just keep on kissing, there is a pretty pink ball of evil that needs to be taken care of.

Now that she's safe in Inuyasha's arms, Kagome's finally ready to make "the right wish" on the Shikon no Tama. And what is that wish? For it to disappear FOREVAR! As it's disappearing, the anime adds Naraku waking up and commenting on the warmth and peace that he feels, before closing his eyes again and vanishing. It's... really weird. Are we trying to show that even Naraku is at peace now? Because I don't really think he deserves it...

Still holding each other (I LOVE that they held each other the entire time!), they realize that it's finally over. (No, it's not. We still have half the episode left! ...Oh, you mean THAT. Okay.)

COMMERCIAL BREAK!

Three years later. (It says this on screen, yet VIZ does not translate it. lol) A slightly more mature-looking Rin (wearing a new outfit!) is rushing Kaede because of an impending birth. So, with Kaede and Rin off doing whatever it is they're doing and Miroku out working, Sango's just left in labor all alone? That's nice.

Poor Inuyasha's so out of it without Kagome. He's not even paying attention when Miroku calls to him. He's staring off into space, most likely thinking about Kagome. *squishes him*

Sango and Miroku's son is born. Miroku, being the doting husband and loving father that he is, shows up after the fact. *rolls eyes* Later that night, they discuss Inuyasha, who's off by himself (again, most likely thinking about Kagome). I love that Miroku and Sango just had a new baby born today and they're talking about Inuyasha and Kagome. XD While they recap what happened three years ago, the twins stretch out in their sleep, one kicking the blanket off, and one throwing an arm over the other. OH GOD THE CUTE.

Five hundred years in the future, it's Kagome's high school graduation. Two students are holding up a cell phone, taking a picture of themselves. Because I have way too much time on my hands, I did some research to find out when camera phones came out. Being that it's three years later and Kagome is graduating, it should be March 2000. The first cell phone with a built-in camera came out November 2000. So it looks like RT did forget when her series is supposed to be taking place. (I don't know why this matters to me so much...)

Poor Kagome's so out of it without Inuyasha. She's graduated from high school, but instead of celebrating, she's remembering the last time she saw Inuyasha - the time when they were cruelly separated. ;_;

In the Sengoku Jidai, Inuyasha's talking to Kaede about that same time. I love the line where Inuyasha says that he's not the only one that Kagome's important to. But for some reason, the anime adds "I realized" to the beginning of the line. I can't really see the reason for this, so it just seems weird.

Shippou appears and points out that Inuyasha tries the well every three days. Inuyasha rightly punts him across the village. As awwwwwww as it is that Inuyasha's so dedicated to seeing his girl again, Shippou should know that he wouldn't want anyone knowing about it and respect that. Stupid kitsune. >.> As he flies through the air, the anime adds him remarking on the good weather. O_o

Back at the Higurashi Shrine, Kagome visits the well as her and Inuyasha's beautiful theme plays in the background. The anime adds on to Kagome and Mama's scene after the well re-opens. They let us see Mama actually giving Kagome her blessing, which I really love. Mama is so awesome. She knows that Inuyasha is the love of Kagome's life. She understands how hard it's been for them to be apart. And so... for her daughter's happiness, she's willing to let her go. <3

Now we're at the scene where the twins are tugging on Inuyasha's ears. It's... surreal to be watching this. I'm probably more familiar with this chapter than any other chapter, as I studied it very closely when writing
Kaerimichi. In addition to the million of times I've just read it simply because I LOVE THIS CHAPTER.

Inuyasha suddenly smells something (WONDER WHAT IT COULD BE) and jumps up, literally dropping the girls on top of Shippou, and telling them to slay him. Good advice! Now he can get back at Shippou for revealing his visits to the well.

He rushes to the well, and... well, the rest just requires pictures (and apparently excerpts from my fic).

He reached the Bone-Eater's Well, swallowing thickly as he stood in front of it, his heart drumming a wild beat within his chest.

Trembling slightly, he extended his arm into the well, palm open.

And a smaller, softer hand grasped it.

He closed his fingers around hers,

lifting her up easily. She gripped his shoulder with her free hand, balancing herself. He clutched the hand he held tightly, as his golden eyes once again met her pale blue ones that were swimming with tears.

She was the one to speak first. "Inuyasha, I'm sorry... Were you waiting...?"

There were so many things he wanted to say, but he could only breathe out her name, "Kagome..."

He lifted her out of the well completely and wrapped his arms around her the moment her feet touched the ground. "You idiot..." he said affectionately. "What have you been up to?"

Then the others show up and COMPLETELY RUIN THE MOMENT. But Kagome's just so happy that she's back. (Besides, now that she's here again, she can hug Inuyasha whenever she wants. OR MAYBE MORE.)

Cue the start of Kimi ga Inai Mirai. YAY! Way to up the awesome level, anime! I'd never read the translation of Kimi ga Inai Mirai before, but I suddenly got curious about it and looked it up. And you know what? IT'S SUCH AN INUKAG SONG. And you know what else? When I searched "Kimi ga Inai Mirai translation" on Google, the fourth result was... MY JOURNAL. LOLWHUT. So, uh, if anyone came here looking for a Kimi ga Inai Mirai translation and just found the insane ramblings of a crazy fangirl, I sincerely apologize. XD

Anyway, while the awesome that is Kimi ga Inai Mirai by the awesome that is Do As Infinity is playing, we get updates on everyone. The anime starts it off with Houjou, who's on a date with a girl that's not Kagome! That was nice of the anime to include him. XD

Then we see older!Souta walking with his friends who wanna meet Kagome, but Souta informs them that she's not there because she GOT MARRIED. =DDDDD As Souta helps Jii-chan up the stairs, Buyo GNATS is seen on a step. ^_^

And because the anime is clearly trying to be in my good graces again with this episode (as if the kiss wasn't enough), they add KOUGA!!!!!!!! He's getting married (not mated, fandom) to Ayame, which I'm kinda eh over because she's not a canon character, but whatever. KOUGAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <33333333333

Next up is miko!Kagome learning about herbs with... JINENJI?! LOL WOW OKAY ANIME. So did not expect that one. lol

Kagome and (HER HUSBAND) Inuyasha walk together as Sesshoumaru flies over. Kagome calls up, "ONII-SAAAAAA~N!!!" Then she's actually shocked at Sess's reaction. And Inuyasha's. Oh, I love you, Kagome. XD

Inuyasha carries (HIS WIFE) Kagome on his back as they sprint through the forest. The MARRIED COUPLE stops at a cliff, overlooking the view together. "Inuyasha to atashi wa, ashita ni tsunagatte iku." <3

「犬夜叉」

^_^
Well, there's still credits. I'm sorry, but Tooi Michi no Saki de is a boooooring song. Especially for Inuyasha, which is known for its epic music. The regular ending animation is replaced with clips highlighting moments from the series, including the InuKik kiss (GROSS) and the MirSan kiss (LAME). I was hoping they would put the InuKag kiss in it, but they didn't. =(

After the credits, we get two commercials (both of which are left unsubbed by VIZ), one for a box set of all the Kanketsu-hen DVDs, and the other for some new anime called "WORKING!!" lol I love this title. XD

So, to sum up... INUYASHA AND KAGOME GOT MARRIED!!!! THE ANIME HEARD MY PRAYERS AND ADDED AN INUKAG KISS!!!! AND IT WAS GLORIOUS!!!! I LOVED THIS EPISODE!!!!

My birthday was last Thursday and I am totally considering this the anime's birthday gift to me. It's one of the best presents I've ever gotten! =D

Oh, and you've totally redeemed yourself, anime. Sure, it didn't happen until the very end of the series, but better late than never, right? XD

inuyasha, kanketsu-hen, j-pop, anime
