Well the last few days have been the most favourite days of my year for the last 3 years. They are they days when I go to the city and attend AGIdeas.
For those of you that don’t know - its a design conference that brings students and designers from all over the world to come and celebrate design.
Its been running for 15 years because of the great man himself Ken Cato.
Oh it was just brilliant - it makes me all excited about design, and makes me re look at my work and realise that I could be doing heaps cooler stuff.
Funny high light of the conference was speaker Colette Renard - From Paris a lady who predicts future fashions. As she went on to speak in a strong French accent - only to (30 minutes in) turn that French accent to a Australian accent and to inform the audience that she's not involved in fashion at all. Her message to us: To embrace art and create things that are truly our own. Not to be fakes. Her message was clear, the audience felt fooled, but understood her reasoning. It was truly brilliant!
Other cool speakers included maker and director of Harvey Krumpet, Adam Elliot. He would have to be one of the best public speakers I’ve ever heard - and his story was so amazing. It was great to hear how he got to where he is, and to hear him iron out the myths of attending the Oscars - they didn't get a show bags!!!
Well if any of you wish to see more - visit www.agideas.net the speakers are all there. (oh except stupido David Carson pulled out at the last minute! so dont look at his stuff)
Well that’s about it from me.
