Moving is frustrating but sometimes there are benefits...

For the second time in less than twelve months, I am helping a parent move. This time it's my mother, who I lived with from the ages of 4-18 in the Southern Highlands, visiting Sydney town weekends to see Dad and generally escape the country.

Mum bought the house when we moved down and though she's not selling it, she is moving out. The move last year was with Dad, from the flat he lived in for 25 years and which I was born in. So I feel like I should be a bit tossed up. But, um. I'm not. It all feels quite healthy and ok.

Anyway, doing this has gobbled up my time. I've been bad at keeping in contact with people and such, as happens, but it's almost done - the move is on the 26th (yes, Australia/Invasion Day...) and then I should finally have some time for myself.

But there have been two book-related benefits to it all.

Firstly, I now have almost all my books in Sydney, which is great, and makes my room feel a bit more like it really is mine.

Secondly, I've been permitted to cull the 'library' room. This has given me around $95 in book exchange credit, which will be harvested when it can be, but that's not the best part. The best part is the box of books liberated and ready to be brought up to Sydney, which includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
Le Morte d'Arthur
Medieval English Medicine
Anarchism and other essays

Once I get them all up here I'll put up a full list, because I'm a bit excited to have it all. Now, I need bookshelves. And more space in my room so I can put said shelves somewhere.

moving, ramble, medieval studies
