It's been far too long since I made one of these posts. Many thanks to psyco_chick32 for all the support, and for urging me to just get this done already.

This second installment of Season of Sorrow has been six months in the making, courtesy of my flighty muse, who up and left me a little past the halfway mark. I don't think this chapter is as impressive or momentous (that's probably the wrong word) as the first, but it's a necessary bit of background that needed to be covered before the story could move on. I had initially considered starting the second chapter where what is now the third chapter begins, but 5,000+ words is a lot to cover in flashbacks.
I'm both excited and very nervous to post this. On one hand, I'm pleased with it. It was hard to write, and it's finally done. On the other hand... I think, overall, that this is a pretty prime example of where my ability to write emotional stories just falls flat. Blarg. I tried. But I think there are a lot of weak spots in this chapter, particularly in terms of characterization and descriptive passages. Someday I will get this fic thing right. Until then, you'll just have to put up with more fic like this.
