I endured my first driving lesson and managed to drive up and down a road and go around two roundabouts. I think it was successful, but I hope my progress picks up a little speed.
First, the instructor, named Dave, picked me up from my house. His real name is David, but I keep forgetting that and calling him Dave, maybe because I like the sound of that better.. . Dave the Driving instructor!
I drove down a straight road starting and stopping as Dave instructed me to check my mirrors and look for hazards, and such. Apparently, there is a computer simulated test where I'll need to point out the dangers as they approach by pressing a computer mouse. . . this is in addition to the written test. It sounds like I'll need to play some video games or something. ..I hate computer games! I think all video games should be banded! Except Tetris, because I'm good at that one. All the other ones should be thrown in a big pile of flames, just like the ancient Book Censors.
And, I'm rather good at starting and stopping, but sometimes I stall the car when I get really enthusiastic and try to take off like a rocket! Dave does not find that exciting, because it appears to make the car stall and leave me wondering what I've possible done wrong. And, then I've got to start all over again. . . usually with a few annoyed cars behind me.
I start to wonder how I was ever given a drivers license! But, then I remember that this is Land of the Race Car Driver Want-to-be's who refuse to use modern technology such as automatic cars, and that I can one day be a Race Car Driver if I keep practicing, and remembering which shoulder to look over!
