Eggy watches TV

Kinda feel like shit today cause I hardly got any sleep. There were a couple of dickheads on dirtbikes & quads racing each other on the (icy) river right in front of the house, from approx 3am to 6am, making a ridiculous amount of noise. Pretty sure that's not actually permitted, which is why they were doing it in the middle of the night. I should've called the cops to complain really, only I kept thinking 'they'll move on any minute now, surely'.

In lieu of working cause I am brain dead, I will proceed to spew nonsense about stuff I'm watching/fics I'm reading.

So, er, anyone who follows me on Tumblr will have realized by now that I am slightly in love with Norman Reedus. This guy:

I don't even know, man. Last guy on whom I crushed this hard was a certain Mr. Barratt. ANYWAY because of him I finally watched the Boondock Saints movies.

They were pretty cool. It's a bit weird that I would find fictitious Catholic vigilantes kinda awesome considering I am an atheist and very anti-death penalty, but I suppose the key word here is 'fictitious'. They're not perfect movies really (the FBI/Boston police bits in both movies are a bit meh -- I'd rather have watched a lot of badass vigilantism without having the see the so-called investigation bits), but the McManus brothers are pretty ace, and their relationship kinda fascinates me. I think my favourite sequence of the two movies is at the beginning of the first one, when the Russians handcuff Connor to the toilet & tell him they'll punish him by shooting Murphy. That whole bit was pretty badass.

So, er, this means I rather quickly found myself looking for twincest fics, a whole new territory for me. >.> In a weird way I think the fics have made me enjoy the movies and the characters a lot more than the movies by themselves.

A few recs, in case anyone cares:
Big Sky Country: On the run, post first movie. The tense relationship between the brothers and their dad is pretty well done. Also there is twincest and I probably shouldn't like it so much.
Connor has always been hypersensitive to Murphy’s kisses, because he wants them and is scared of them at the same time. When Murphy presses their mouths together, it happens in slow motion, and Connor can distinguish every moment, like individual frames in a reel of film. Their tongues touch and Connor feels his stomach lurch with thrill and nausea. Not the bile kind of nausea, but the kind that comes of kissing your brother and liking it.

Merry Fuckin' Christmas: Another on the run fic. This one implies that their action have brought forth the Apocalypse, which is an idea I really like. Also there is sex.
Connor remembers simple, and the easy whirlwind of months with Da before all the good and honest folk discovered that they too had it in them to rise up and cure the world of its ills. Connor remembers unwavering faith, and how he didn't wake up wondering if it wasn't God at all that'd sent him and Murph down this path.

Fallout: Another 'on the run + sex' fic. I am sensing a theme. >.> But this fic has pretty awesome childhood back story, too, involving Mad Max and bomb shelters. For me to buy twincest, it kinda has to be established that it's something that they've always done, or at least started when they were pretty young. It isn't the case in this one but it works anyway. It's good. I could quote so much out of this one, it's really well written.
There's all sorts of layers to inevitable. They won't talk about this, like they don't talk about how much they miss Rocco and home, or what's going to happen when one of them -- and it's not an if, it's a when -- is caught or killed. It's just another part of them that doesn't need a bunch of bloody explanations, because it's so fundamental, it's like sharing air and blood.
The weirdest thing about it is how weird it really doesn't seem.
Murphy thinks of Mad Max, wonders what the movie would've been like if old Max had had a brother to navigate the post-apocalypse with.

Deliverance: I guess I just really like those post 1st movie fics that have them deal with their father, and each other, and doubt sneaking in through the conviction. It's the kind of stuff I could never write myself, so maybe that's why.
He's a force, a presence, this man who's bound to them by blood and faith and a handful of words. Their father, if only for a year -- the eight months before he left their ma and the not-quite five since Rocco died. He's an angel, bloodied and fallen, a chiseled statue of a saint, imposing and silent in the back of a blessed church. They kill with him and they pray with him and they believe in him, but they do not know him.
Connor doesn't love him yet, and he doesn't think Murphy ever will.

Safe Enough: Last one is way more light-hearted. It's based on that one deleted scene when their Ma calls from Ireland, and tells them that the one with the biggest cock is the one that came out of the womb first. You can guess where it goes from there. XD But there's BJs and it's pretty hot.
He watched in amusement as Murphy’s face flushed even darker. Murphy sat back on his haunches, his irritation and frustration etched into his furrowed brow.
Connor knew Murphy was struggling with the fact that though it might be faster for Connor to help him get into a state to be measured, there was also the slight problem that he might come in the middle of it all, thereby confusing his goals.

So, yes. I've been reading a LOT of filth these past couple of days. >.>

Speaking of brothers doing things they really shouldn't be doing, I've started watching Supernatural. It's really mainly the_reverand's fault. I'm only like 4 episodes in, and with like 22 episodes per season and, what, 8 season? It'll take me fucking forever to get caught up! I'm enjoying it so far, but mainly for the 'brothers hanging out & being badass' angle. idk if I'm meant to take the monster of the week seriously, it all feels a bit B-movie campy to me, and makes me laugh more often than not -- partly because I'm often reminded of Garth Marenghi. "By the time I got back, he'd gone insane. Plus, he'd left the gate open and there was evil everywhere."

The Walking Dead continues to make me angry more often than not. For every cool scene (shootout in a saloon Western-style, zombies eating faces), there are about 5 more where the characters are being utter morons. All the boys are moping around blaming the girls for their problems, and all the girls are just dumb. Sigh. Right now I'm really only watching for the eye candy, I really hope it improves.

...I'm really fucking long-winded today, aren't I.
