I'm not as good as he was... but it'll have to do

The Shakespearean Address

Us writers should
hold each other
accountable
for a higher
standarded,
or literary shift,
that is about
to occur.
Writing once
again will take
flight
and shape
our collective minds.
Will we as
a people
be able to
accept it?
I do not know,
but assume
we will
(un)adapt
to this
digital
age
and take
our information
in doses.
Conciousness
flows oddly
here and now.
Indeed it spirals
Every summer
feels
more tempting
than the last,
but us writers
still hold
back
the thoughts
and words
we delete
with our
failures
and minds.
Entranced
we let our
hands take
hold of us
and grip
us to the keys
as we attempt
to stroke out
our masterbatory
thoughts upon
pages
and lyrics.
Images are
bought
before
they are
even sold
to us, to
sell silly
nick nacks
and snacks.
And the writers
watch
as all
of humanity
becomes
bloated
and wishes
only to be
the same.
Starving
for fame,
the writers
embrace
and begin
to suppose
for the media,
but I tell
you my dear
readers
that the time
of rebellion
is upon
us and I
ask for you
to take up
your arms
with ink
and pen,
if you must,
to illiterate
and obliterate
the state
of affairs.
Our instinctual
souls
crave passion
and touch,
but our
minds
run away
from our
bodies
on cybernetic
high ways.
Sure, there
is freedom
untold
and unseen
upon this
earth
in this created
and shared
metaphysical relm,
but the soul
dies
without the
body
and we writers
have let
the souls
of too many
die in
the wastelands
of their own
filth. While
for some
it may in fact
be their
choice
to resign
and reside
themselves
so, but
do not
forget
nor regret
the duping
and doping
of millions.
So through
the haze
let these
words
raise
an army
of questioning
to be shared
and declared
to whomever
you meet,
for souls are
once again
divided,
but will
soon come
round the
bend
and meet
with lover's
luck.
