I'd like to call your attention to the above link, a continuation of an earlier post this week.

This is a fashion experiment being carried out by a swimwear designer and pattern maker. He's the darling from Pattern School, the oft- reference for bra pattern making tutorials and advice. In fact the same place I started to make the cupped bridal corset from this past summer.

He's currently patterning a corset for a fashion shoot, with an already selected model for the job. I thought this article may be of some interest when it comes to pattern making and manipulation, since that is the heart of good cut. I also found it interesting that he's making 1/2 scale paper models of his corsets to see if the shape meets his expectations. As he works with stretch fabrics as his previous profession, I think it's well understood that even woven fabrics have the capacity to distort when applied to the wearing body.

I have been following this experiment, not realizing that his superb understanding of patterning would ever be applied to corsets. He's also looking for corset professionals to chime in on the corset patterning process. My experience is armchair at best, so I thought I'd pass along the process for professionals and nouvelle alike.
