Yes, well...
So I did want to write about what I've been doing lately, I really have..
; I just never found the time to actually write what I wanted to.. hrmmm.
Well anyway, I actually DO want to update with stuff, so... without further ado! (In as chronological order as I can get it)
2 weeks ago on Tuesday, I went with
mystical_mayhem to see Hanson!
I swear I am jinxed when it comes to outdoor concerts, because it was scheduled to rain on us... and of course it did. Not nearly as much as the typhoon of rain we got for the 5x10 concert, but it was definitely rain. Luckily we had an idea it would rain, and were able to get some crappy ponchos from the dollar store before we got to the venue.
The staff of course told us they were going to start EXACTLY at 7:30, but what happened? They started at like 8:20... yeah. But oh well... it was really fun to actually SEE Hanson LIVE!! Because I'd never had a chance to before and, as most of you probably don't know, I was a HUGE Hanson fan back in the day -- joined the fanclub and everything :x
Anyway, they sang a lot of new songs, and a lot of old songs... and I came to realize that even though I went through that "punk rock" phase in my life, I think I just tend to lean towards really uplifting songs. Hanson's new songs are really great and fun and
mystical_mayhem and I had a lot of fun dancing and being stared at by Taylor and Zac lol
Anyway... aside from the rain, it was really fun... and really fun to actually see Zac in the flesh. He was always my favorite. The dorky weird/stupid guys always are my favorites (Mickey in TMNT, Wacko in Animaniacs, Junsu in DBSK etc...) and so it was interesting to see Zac with facial stubble, and some muscle haha...
But you know the image that really stuck with me in my head is that while he was drumming, there was a part where he was just going at the drums as fast and hard as he could, all the while with this gigantic, stupid grin on his face... all I could think was, "Wow, I wish I could have as much fun as he does doing something he loves".
Because I really don't even know what I want to do with my life anymore, and that's really depressing to me. I'm stuck in this weird limbo right now, and I know there's a lot of college kids that get this way once they graduate, but I just am so... confused about my life.
But that's something for another entry.
All in all, the concert was really fun. They had to cut it short a bit because there was lots and lots of lightning looming nearby and the staff wanted them to stop playing near tons of electrical equipment. They also sang Mmmbop for their last song!! Holy crap
I honestly NEVER thought they would still be singing that... and it was really magical.
I seem to like all the groups that still play their debut song 10 years later, don't I?
Up NEXT, we have Scott Pilgrim VS the World! I saw the movie opening night, and it was really great! I highly enjoyed it, although I hear it deviates from the comic after the first 1/2, but that those who read the comic still highly enjoyed the movie.. good sign in my opinion
It's good.
OBON FESTIVAL! Every year, there is an Obon festival at our local zoo here.. I wasn't able to go last year because well.. I was IN Japan, but I went again this year and we had a mini Arashi fan meet
I even managed to put my yukata on by myself... and tye the damn obi by myself as well! I'm glad I know that I can do it all by myself now. Good to know
I was seriously surprised that I could get the obi tied by myself -- it was only the 2nd time I've done it! And that fan on the back kept popping up when I moved around, but it was for the 夏祭り in Okazaki last year -- I love it I think it's so cute! Btw my shoes totally do not match my yukata! I really don't have anything better yet!
Of course I had to bring my Ohno uchiwa as well
Actually, we had probably 4 or 5 girls walk up to our group and ask us where we got our uchiwas... tons of other Arashi fangirls!! Compared to 3 years ago when we went and one girl working at the place thought
katzichan's Sho uchiwa was Jun... and that's it!! I was so surprised. Seriously, Arashi is taking over the world.
I also managed to scare a bunch of Japanese girl scouts... *sigh*.. there were quite a few different groups of them, and every time they would be near us they would talk about our uchiwas and stuff... eventually there was another group that were seriously STARING at me and our uchiwas, and whispering stuff like, "Ohno-kun!" and "Sakurai-san!" etc so I thought... why not? And walked up to them...
Me: すみません~嵐が好きですか?
Them: *stares blankly with mouths open.. stepping back slowly.. then they start nodding nervously*
Me: あぁそうですか?私たちも大ファンなんです。
Them: *smiles awkwardly and then RUNS AWAY*
Me: ..........
Yeah...
Well, at least I can say I tried. When I looked at them and they were staring, I made it a point to smile at them so I really didn't think they would get so flustered and run away.
Anyway, it was quite fun and I'm glad that we got to go.. also, by some sort of crazy miracle bestowed upon her,
lyricalidol found an original copy of the Kaibutsu-kun manga!!
How insane is that!? And I'm almost thinking it'd be really fun to translate it haha.
I didn't get Tokyo dome tickets.
it really really sucks... but I'm not giving up yet. I/We can't afford to buy those $700 tickets from the auctions, but I'm doing things my own way and hoping that I can get us some tickets in my own methods.
Wish me luck
