Dragoncon 2010
New SPN and Smallville this Friday, whaaaaaaaaa?? Where did this summer go??? IT'S NOT A CLICHE IF IT'S TRUE. (oh, wait...)
Two weeks ago I went to Dragoncon, and it is the best convention out of all conventions. More fan-driven than any other, and not in any stage of decay as of yet. It's for every fan, every fandom, and very random. You can find a giant teddy bear posing with Captain America, and celebrities posing with cosplayers, and Jay and Silent Bob hanging out outside of a liquor store, and meet two of your favorite actors on the same day, and go to NC-17 fanfiction panels after midnight. I'm not hyping it up to be a jerk, it's only that Dragoncon doesn't get nearly as much publicity as other cons and yet IT IS AWESOME.

1. Atlanta, Georgia fan convention, Labor Day weekend. Every year. 35,000 people (more like 50,000+), 5 hotels, 3 sisters, one giant city.
2. Friday: The line to get in is nuts. They force us to listen to the original Star Trek theme over in a constant loop as a form of torture. My big sis is AMAZING.
3. Quantum Leap panel with Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell.
4. Not singing elvish in the Tolkien room. But photo ops and vanilla vodka and Coke.
5. The Guild panel. DIY!
6. The Jeff Lewis 5 Minute Comedy Hour. Join up!
7. Tennant vs. Smith panel
8. Zombie walk
9. Wrestling !
10. Doctor Who slash panel, where we discuss the Doctor and asexuality, and I discover that Colin Farrell and not Colin Firth is playing the vampire in Fright Night.
11. The Legend of Neil. Comedy webisodes based on Zelda. WTFery. I just like watching people in elf costumes have sex. With fairies.
12. Saturday: Dragoncon parade

13. True Blood panel of coolness. We sat in the back of the panel rooms because it was more relaxed, and my camera has 80x zoom :D
14. Superhero costume world record attempt failure, featuring Lou Ferrigno. The Star Trek world record attempt was successful though!
15. A skeptical magician
16. First SPN fans-only panel with MAJOR guest star spoilers and fandom love (for a surprise).
17. Star Trek vs. Doctor Who panel featuring Peter David's lame jokes
18. NC-17 fanfic panel, cut short for too many dolphin noises
19. Sunday: I meet Brandon Routh. My life is complete.
20. Religion in Buffy and SPN panel, featuring a super awesome priest.
21. Adrian Pasdar in a Heroes panel. Adrian. Pasdar.
22. Luke Perry in a panel talking about 9.02.10 day and the craft of acting.
23. Edward Furlong, Marc Singer, Shawnee Smith, Chris Bruno, and Kelly Lebrock talking about the craft of acting. On one panel.
24. The cast of MST3K past and even more past and present.
25. Kilt Lifting! We missed kilt lifting! With leaf blowers!
26. Brandon Routh Superman panel. He is cool. I ask him a question. He makes Superman faces and ponders the total awkwardness of life.
27. Third SPN panel. This time, wishes for next season.
28. Panel for The Walking Dead. We get contacts to be zombies in movies, we learn tips on preparing for the zombie apocalypse, we meet members of the zombie squad.
Oh, I almost forgot: TOM SAVINI! He had his own panel, but it was filled to capacity.
29. Costume masquerade. Steampunks always win. Not sexy Clark Kent. Why, oh why?
30. Night parties and total total craziness everywhere for hours and hours.
31. Monday: Hunks panel with Jason Carter from Babylon 5 and Marc Singer from Beastmaster. They used to have the best hair in the business.
32. 70 years of Batman panel in the TV classics room. Mentions of Adam West, Robin, Grant Morrison, Under the Red Hood, and Christopher Nolan.
33. 'Pam' from True Blood in the Starbucks line. Lots and lots of Starbucks.
34. Autotune the News in the car on the way home. Driving for 9 hours.
35. Dragoncon withdrawal helped by seeing Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, pondering zombies, and posting pics to flickr.
