It was snowing really heavily a while ago and I wanted to get a photo of the back trees lost in white out the back window. One little cardinal was still in view.
I dropped my big girl camera (Nikon D5000) this afternoon from about 4' high onto the hardwood floor hitting it on the 18mm to 200mm zoom lens. What a horrible sinking feeling. It smashed some inner workings in the lens and now it can't focus from 18mm to about 30mm but the mid range and telephoto are still ok. I just now took the above picture with it so thank goodness it is still usable. It is the lens I use more than any other. I need to find out from Nikon what their policy is to fix lenses - how much and how to go about it. If it is too much to fix I will just live with it the way it is, I guess... I hope I can fix it and get full use of it again.
