The grandkids just got on the school bus... Yesterday wasn't so smooth in the morning but today everything went well. Yay!
I tried out my oil paint set a bit yesterday - did a color swatch for the colors and organized my palette. I think this is going to be difficult for me, a new way of working, a challenge. I want to not paint so BRIGHTLY and intensely {paint right out of the tubes} as I usually do). I need to learn color blending, be more subtle - so this is going to be my medium to try that.
"Green Branch" - ATC size painting done on a gessoed playing card. It started out as a doodle of green lines. Obviously still *bright* - but I did do some color blends for the background. I would love to be disciplined and do a small painting each day (I always say things like that - "I want to do __{whatever}__ everyday". Will I ever be able to organize my life so I can do everything I want?)
But anyway, I'm in love with my little box set of paints - enchanted with it. It is so perfect and portable. I was able to paint while sitting at the kitchen table with mom last night.

Chloe made the suggestion that I should put my studio in the back room (sun room) now that Jules and the kids aren't living in it anymore. Turn the front room (my present studio) back into a living room. I am very tempted. It will be a lot of work, but it would be a lot of work anyway just to fix it back up into the sun/TV room it was before Jules and the kids were in there. No matter what, it will be a lot of work. In the summer it is a very hot room and in the winter it is a very cold room - which would be better for the family - I alone would be the one to suffer the extremes of that room while the rest of the family would have a comfortable room to watch TV in. There is a heater that I could put on when I'm in there - the rest of the time it could be unheated and save money this winter. And there is wonderful light in that room - that is the thing that is so attractive to me about it. So - that's an idea...
