There's time for writing this morning. No Monday hike. Seems so luxurious to have the time to write whatever comes to the top of my head.
It's at this stage now. I think I will add black ball point pen lines to it later but it needs to dry first. I'm also stenciling the cover of my next "Live" book (that's where art-a-day lives) and I need to let the paint dry on that too. I needed to get away from the painting table for a bit. Which got me thinking, as I have a tendency to do, about the question, "Am I an artist". I know, I know, I think and worry about this too much. But this morning I was thinking - and I said to myself: I'm an artist because I think about making art (a lot). It doesn't matter if I sell my art (I don't), or show my art (I don't), or if I'm even good at art (that is questionable at times). But because I think about the making of art then I am an artist. Pretty broad definition. I might change it to: I am an artist because I think about art, and I MAKE art. Surely the making of it is at the core. So I can agree with that today - I am an artist. I might not be as good as I wish I was, or as good as I used to be but I am still an artist. Thank goodness! Because that gives me an excuse for all these art supplies that I've bought over the years!
I called the vet this morning to get an appointment for Rainy. Her left ear is vastly better than it was but it's still not "all better". The appointment is for Wednesday. Since Andy needs his annual check up and his shots and Rainy does too we'll take both dogs. That'll be something. Andy is so happy and ready to meet new people and other dogs he is a big nuisance. And Rainy is so scared about being in a strange place that you can't help but feel bad for her. I wish we had a vet who did housecalls. A long time ago we had so many outdoor animals that we had regular visits from the vet for the pony and goats so I took advantage and had the dog's and cat's annual exams and shots done at the same time. Now it's a big bother to have to GO to the vet. Especially with Skye. She hates having to get in her travel box.
Rainy has also been very itchy. I'll bring that up with the vet on Wednesday too. Here she is looking up from scratching herself.
I was able to stencil the last letter on the third book just now. The letters get more and more centered on the covers each time, I'm glad. I don't know what I was thinking for that first one. I'll have number 2 filled in in about 10 more days. Number three will take me very close to the one year mark with this art-a-day project and that's all I committed to in the first place. But I have one more of this size of book already made so now I'm considering continuing it into a 4th book and then quitting.
Well, it has been a nice morning to write and take pictures of things but I need to get dressed and get more active. Eat lunch, work on godseyes again (they fell by the wayside for a while), take the dogs for a walk, finish that art-a-day, and give Rainy an oatmeal bath.
