This is a picture I got off facebook that Chloe had posted of herself and me at Rapp Run Falls in the summer. I like it. I wish I actually looked that young in real life.
The eclipse last night. We got back from our dinner with Chloe around 8 pm last night and I was very tired. Went to bed early. Around 10 Dave woke me up and asked if I wanted to see the lunar eclipse. I felt so tired and not ready to be woken up that I said I don't care I'm going to skip it. It's not going to be that much anyway - just a small partial eclipse. But before I went back to sleep I set the alarm for 10:45. That's when it was supposed to be at its height. I did get up then and went out front to see it. Just a dark smudge on the left upper edge. But I'm glad I saw it. Just so I can say I saw it. And because even a partial eclipse is neat - thought provoking. The earth - our home planet (we live on a planet! it's easy to forget that) was casting its shadow on our moon - a big ball orbiting our own big ball while an even bigger bright ball was burning far out in space. The music of the spheres.
Neither Dave or I slept well last night. I find I don't usually sleep very well on full moon nights. I got up at 4. Made a cup of Red Rose tea. Fed the dogs and cat. Read the AP news on my phone and got sucked once again into reading Quora. Finally was able to escape that and got caught up with LJ and DW. Ate a breakfast of a hard boiled egg and lime corn chips (that's my daily breakfast) and a peanut butter cookie. Worked more on the above picture - I had painted the splotched background before I went to bed last night not knowing then what else I would do with it. Took a picture of it and now Here I Am doing daily writing.
The plans for the day are for us to drive over to Beaver Creek and distribute/plant the walnut nuts that Dave picked up in our backyard yesterday. He got a big feed sack full of them. Beaver Creek is a very pretty and isolated area and a good place to let the dogs run.
