Chicory, from Memory. I'm in art critic mode. I really want to like these jelly cup gouache paints but I haven't got there yet. Maybe if I hadn't let them get so dry. Since I've rehydrated them they just aren't the same. Not smooth at all. I've read where some people just let them totally dry and be hard and then use them as dry watercolor pans. My other set of gouache that I like to use is that kind and I like it. I keep thinking if all I had in the world to paint with was this set of paints I'd LEARN to like them. I'd learn how I would use them. I had more fun when I was doing the lettering than when I was doing the flower.

We had a nice time going to Slippery Rock last night and eating at Elephant Eight. I love how they have the walls all painted orange. I was telling Dave that when I was a kid if you asked me my favorite color I'd say orange. Now I say yellow but I have a soft spot in my heart for orange still.

The walls in EE were like this color. They had changed a lot of things since I was there last. New plastic placemats that looked like banana leaves. A new waiter - an older guy who reminded me of a jolly buddha.  New serving dishes and a new menu. They have 2 menu books now. A whole menu book dedicated just to sushi. I got (I think it was called) Devil Sushi as a meal and Dave got his standard Pad Thai. I should have taken some pictures of the menu and how pretty the sushi was. It had cream cheese in it in addition to tuna and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember now. I think I will add cream cheese to the list of items people can use when we have our family birthday make-your-own sushi party next Sunday. So far I'm thinking I'll lay out cucumbers, chopped shrimp, avocado, cream cheese, slivered carrots, smoked salmon, sesame seeds and the usual ginger and wasabi, plus I like to have sweet and sour sauce too.

Basically a stay at home day today. I got a late start. I was up for a few hours in the night so I was tired at dawn when it was time to let the chickens out. I did the morning chores and then went back to bed. Had some dreams that I enjoyed but can't remember. I think I will spend the day outside on the back porch grouting today. Still coolish weather - 67F at the moment. Dave wants to blanch and freeze string beans so that will happen when he gets home later from a get-together with his hunting shanty friends. Time to get dressed now (noon!).
