writing

I do like to write. It was nice when we had a weekly writing group. Just to have a time set aside to definitely write a little bit at least once a week. Freewrites. Stuff just off the top of my head...

I was thinking (while walking the dogs just now) about the different styles of dog walking that Dave and I have. He likes to take Andy with the electric collar (running free). When he walks Andy down back and I go along I will let Rainy run free too. There is a lot of yelling by both of us. Where's Rainy?! Where's Andy?! Andy, Andy! Rainy, Rainy! Doggies Come! Andy Come! Rainy Come! Doggies!! You get the idea. So when I walk the dogs alone I have them both on retractable leashes and there is silence except for This Way when we come to a branch in the trail. I might talk a bit to Andy when he's sniffed something for too long and I get impatient. Come on Andy, Enough. Both dogs if left to run free want to go very far and if you don't watch constantly you have no idea of where they've got to. I don't want to leave Rainy behind or lose her. She can hardly see over higher grass and sometimes when she's far out in the weeds she can't figure out how to get to me when I do call her. Easier for me when I'm alone walking them to use leashes. I try to walk them twice a day, but in actuality it's more like once a day. I just got home from that.

Yesterday the lake people configured the dam again that is just over the line from our property. They started putting in the dam a couple years ago so that future floods wouldn't cause so much erosion on our property. The bulldozer pushed dirt and trees around and blocked the shortcut path I had recently weed wacked to get over there. That was disappointing. Though it's like they made a ramp in another place that would make a good place to get across. I think I will weed wack into that area next time I work down there.

Anyway. It's getting close to lunchtime and I need to do something more with my day than walk dogs and write on the computer.
