Eventually I got myself moving out of the house this morning. Since Jan wasn't going it was harder to justify my driving a car somewhere for just me and Rainy. But my affirmation today was "I am willing to find joy in life today" so that finally won out. I think I have fallen in love with photography a bit more again. Having a new camera or a new lens or new filter gets me going again. The ZS8 is an old camera but I am really liking the detail in closeups it gives. The detail comes with some softness but to me that adds to its charm.
I took lots of pictures today - in the thralls of a new/old toy to play with. This is the start of the day looking out at the foggy morn. Many more pictures of the walk at Two Mile:
The entrance to the woods. This sign is so old - it was put up when they opened the park 50 years ago.
This spring flower appeared again a few days ago but I just couldn't remember its name. It was on the tip of my brain and then it broke through today. Golden Ragwort! Hello old friend, I'm glad I can say your name again.
A picture from the bridge you need to cross to get to the hill.
Maple leaves.
May apples.
Common violet.
Bluets.
I remember I took a picture of this same log another time in the past. I still like it. I think the holes were caused by a sapsucker woodpecker.
There is a nice little view here looking down over this hill to the opposite hill. There is a little waterfall gurgling down there that you can hear.
ZS8 did a good job of zooming in on the waterfall.
I think this is Japanese Barberry, an invasive. They looked so pretty it was disappointing to ID it and find out they are a problem plant. But the woods is already clogged with multiflora rose so I don't see what worse thing can happen with this barberry.
Heading out of the woods back to the car.
I liked this curly grass.
This might be my favorite picture of the day. I like how the coverings are still clinging to the tips of the new spruce growth.
This was taken in the car on the way home. A vast field of bluets on the driving range at Whitetail Run golf course. They come up every spring and I love seeing them there.

I can't believe it's after 5 already. Time to make some dinner. I think it will be a "big salad".
