This is the first morning in a while that I have felt the urge to write. Probably it is because I want to procrastinate the job of getting the spare room ready for Johnny and Alison's arrival on Friday. I've taken over storing stuff in that room (the clothes I wear most often, yarn, extra blankets and bedding) plus Hazel left behind a lot of stuff that could be moved into a more consolidated space. Anyway it seems to me that frequently before I start cleaning I find myself writing about my plans here, so I suppose writing is a part of the prep for a job.
Summing up Christmas weekend: all was good. My crocheted basket and homemade soap giveaway seemed to be a hit and I got rid of a lot. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves as far as I could tell. Chloe, Jimmy, Jules, Sebastian and Noah, and Roswell and Jordan, Dave and Me. (9). For my wish list I had: a bed for Rainy, a ball for Andy and a laser pointer toy for Skye. Jules had fun playing with Skye and Andy with the laser pointer. After Rainy got her new bed she spent the rest of the time on it hiding in the bedroom in the dark. It was nice having so many young people in the house. 4! The 2 young brothers and their partners mainly entertained themselves at one table but somehow just having them in the room made it more festive. It made me happy to have them here.
I only took one picture - this one of Noah and Sebastian trying on different baskets on Rainy's head as hats. She held still quite well but I don't think she enjoyed the attention that much.
This is the present I was most looking forward to getting. "The Encyclopedia of Tubular Bead Crochet - Patterns, Techniques, Finishing" book and beads of the right size recommended for beginners (#8 seed beads).
This is where I'm going to leave off working on it for now. I have all the beads on the thread in their proper patterns - next step will be to follow the book's directions and learn how to bead crochet. But I'm putting that off till I get the room cleaned and ready for company. Need to stay focused and be disciplined!
It's raining hard today. I can hear it over the baby monitor on the roof of the chicken coop - very loud. This'll be a good day to stay in the house.
