Sunshine didn't come back to the coop last night. I fear she's gone for good. Sunshine was our one chicken who crowed. I'd hear her crowing a few times each morning. She was getting better at it all the time. When it gets light I'm going to go out and search for her remains. Hopefully figure out what took her. I had been waiting til at least 2 pm to let them out of their run (safety) into the yard (possible danger). They LOVE roaming the yard and can't wait to get out there to search for yummy things and explore. It's always a risk to let them roam out there but I figured that by waiting till afternoon to let them out, hopefully the hawks and eagles had had their meal of the day by then. So far that plan had been working and we didn't lose any chickens all summer. So now we only have one laying hen left - Blondie. Though we have 2 other old hens who don't lay who will keep her company. I'm thinking now that next spring I'll get 6 baby chicks. That will bring us up to 9 chickens. A good number for our size of coop.
A new thing I'm trying - making yarn flowers with a flower loom. These are my first trial flowers. Just to see how it's done. I love learning new crafts.
I did not do my third PT session of the day for my shoulder last evening. It's going to be very hard for me to overcome my lethargy about that. I woke up from my nap in the afternoon and just had a hankering for apple pie. I think it's all the fuss about Applefest that's going on right now. Apples, apples, apples. So we drove into Giant Eagle and got a frozen apple pie and a pumpkin pie and 3 candy apples. Came home from that and I played around with yarn and the flower loom the rest of the evening, read a book about it, and then it seemed too late to do PT so I just went to bed without.
The plan today: do my shoulder exercises when I get done writing here. Explore the yard to see if I can find out what happened to Sunshine. Go into town and actually go to Applefest and see if there are any interesting crafts to see. Come home and do shoulder exercises again. Clean house and make a vegan dinner. Do shoulder exercises again! And knowing me, I'll play with the new flower loom too.
