It's a beautiful photo and story.
I'm often impressed when people can name the type of birds they see. I'm clueless. They're all LBBs Little Brown Birds. : )

I might not have been able to know the name of the bird except that it was a cedar waxwing and we were close enough to see the fascinating little things on the tips of their wings like actual drops of wax there. Really distinctive.

It made the fact that the bird couldn't be saved better - it had a good send-off anyway.
