My impressions after seeing Barbie yesterday: I was disappointed that it did not deal with death and possibly aging and trying to live up to the eternal "beautiful" Barbie image. From something I saw in a preview I thought it would. I guess I went into it with totally different expectations than it was designed to deliver. I was kind of expecting a Barbie riff on the Velveteen Rabbit story. That did not happen. It was about toxic masculinity and how Barbies combat that. Not in a realistically helpful way. I'm imagining that kids who had Barbies and who loved their Barbie toys would enjoy this movie a lot more than I did. There was a lot of giggling in the audience behind me at parts that I didn't really find very funny. There was even a car chase scene with tire screeches and loud action music. It felt like that was just thrown in there to please the masses. My favorite character was Kate McKinnon as Weird Barbie. That might tell you something. It could have been so much better if they had taken it in a different direction in my opinion.

I drove Roswell to work this morning and then went up to the place by the mall and had my hair cut - even more. I wanted someone to even it out and fix the back after my latest self-cut. I'm disappointed in that too. I think I need to FORGET it, leave it totally alone and let it grow out for a couple months. I do like the feel of short hair. I'm just not sure I'll ever like the look of it on me. I need to keep searching for *my* style.

I'm about halfway done making the granny squares that will have flowers in them. The rest of the squares will be either plain dark blue or plain royal blue - no flowers.
