wednesday and thursday
Somehow yesterday (Wednesday) I forgot to post this and just now found it here on my laptop:
Not much new going on. I've settled into my usual routine here again. Up at 5:30. Putter around the house in the morning. Clean the kitchen. Write. Go hiking with a friend or with Rainy most days. Nap in the afternoon. Try to use up the summer vegetables in an evening meal. I made zucchini bread with 2 zucchinis yesterday afternoon and boy, was it good. I used half whole wheat flour and less sugar and oil than the recipe called for so I think I did good health wise with it. We close the day by walking the dogs in the late evening over to the lake, weather permitting. Then I play piano till I get tired and go to bed. Life is good. I take little crochet breaks during the day to clear my mind - kind of like meditation breaks. I stop thinking while I'm crocheting - it just becomes counting of numbers and a repetitive movement.
Last night at the lake. The gravel dredging machines in the distance. We turn around before we get to them.
I was impressed with this mullion plant. They were working with their big trucks earlier in the day and had run over it. In the few hours since it happened it already was trying to return to it's former life and right itself as much as possible.
Need to do - want to do? I have a few things I need to do. Take some pictures of jewelry for Kara (my cousin Rosie's daughter in law). She said she'd like something but couldn't find my etsy shop anymore (I did close it) so I need to show her in a different way what I have left. And I need to get into the PSECU website and see about transferring some money. I never set up the online account with them and need to figure that out now. Not looking forward to either of those things. Also I still have it in my mind to clear a work space in the basement for ceramics. Summer would be the ideal time to work down there (it's cool). And I found those placemats I want to give to Tom for a wedding gift and see that I did NOT finish piecing the woven squares together so I need to finish doing that this week.
Today Jan and I are hiking somewhere. I'll leave it to her to decide where we'll go.

Thursday - today:
Jan and I did go hiking yesterday and we went to the same place I went with Candy on Monday - walked beside the Allegheny near Kennerdell. Jan and I went farther though - all the way to the rustic campground 2 1/2 miles up river. A glorious day for walking. Not hot, breezy, shady under the trees with glimpses of the river showing most of the time. We saw a lot of people on horses. Two were just younger women on their own, one had her dog along too. And four were older folks in a group.
The older group. They were sitting at a picnic table at the campground when we got there and left after we did. Then they caught up with us on our way back and passed us.

Today is women's group in the morning and Hazel's 25th birthday! We are having her party this afternoon.
