Rainy on the new dog bed. There is an odd story behind how we got the dog bed. Last week a couple regular pillows arrived, addressed to Andy. They were from MyPillow. We thought who in the world would be sending us MyPillow pillows and addressing it to Andy? Dave wanted to send them back. "I don't want those things in my house. Don't want to support that guy". Then the next day a big dog bed pillow arrived, also addressed to Andy. On Monday Dave tried to call the MyPillow number to see who sent them. He got a phone message saying they were too busy to take calls and they would call you back, just leave your number. Then it hung up before you could leave a message with your number. So he called the next day. They put him on hold for about 15 minutes this time and while on hold they played Christian hymns. A message come on from Mike Lindell asking you be patient and it ended with "God Bless You". Really pushing the Christian angle. Finally Dave got to talk to a real person and we found out who bought these things. Bill, a rightwing childhood friend of Dave. Those pillows are expensive. Bill paid $160 for this stuff. And we had no desire for them. Where to even put the dog bed? It's big. Bill thinks he's giving us a nice gift - how to be gracious? Anyway, we finally figured out maybe we could replace a chair we had by the window that the animals always sat on and put the dog pillow on the mini trampoline there. It works and the pets do seem to like it. Pictures of Andy and Skye on it:

Andy's not that excited by it. We made him get up on it for this picture.

Skye especially likes it. She might end up claiming it for her's alone - it's perfect for watching the bird feeder.

I had a busy morning yesterday with taking Roswell to work and then going to women's group. Didn't have time to write anything. On Tuesday Jan and I hiked around McKeever. The sun was out but the high grass was still very wet and our legs got soaked. It was still a great hike and it was good to see some of the old McKeever trails could still be followed. They need to get in there with a weedwacker or mower though and I suppose they will do that before they officially open the park again.

This is in the area called Rocky Basin. Though it was weird - both Jan and I remember it being different - much wider and more spacious than it appears now. Our memories must be playing tricks on us.

A bridge with seating that is at the midway point on the hike over to Lake Wilhelm. A nice place to stop and rest a while. We ended up at the dam at the lake and then walked into Sandy Lake on the road. I had left my car there so it was handy to get in it there and drive up to where we parked Jan's car at McKeever.

One final pic. Most every evening (if the weather permits) we go for a walk with the dogs to the lake and the creek and afterwards we sit in our chairs under the crabapple tree by Dave's garden and wait for night to fall. This is our view. Sometimes we see deer crossing, way in the back, or a ground hog. One time we saw a fox carrying something like a rabbit. Many birds to see. It's become a really nice daily ritual. Andy sits in front of us and Rainy sits on my lap.

Today: music lesson. I'm going to show my teacher the roll-up piano. Play her a song on it. "Stand By Me". This will be the last lesson I'll have for a month or more.
