What to write about? What's new? Just rain and wetness outside for days now. No (big) hikes, though I did take a little turn around the back yard and down to the creek yesterday afternoon with Rainy when it quit raining for a bit.
Today's art-a-day thoughts.
Saturday I spent the first part of the day making my own version of the game "Mantis". Jules had bought us the official version to play a while back and it was fun but I had a hard time differentiating some of the colors (red from pink) so I when I made my simplified version there was no pink. I replaced pink with white. I spent a few hours on this, thinking the while, this is dumb. Who will even want to play with these homemade cards? But I don't care. This is the kind of stuff I like to do. Have always liked. It's like weaving placemats. Why do it? Because I want to and that's enough. The new placemats won't be better than the ones I already have. They might be worse. But I want to do it. I like the process of making things. I made a vegan dinner (rice, lentil and broccoli casserole) Saturday and after dinner we played with my new cards. They were adequate (easier to see) but for the second half of the evening we switched to the original game cards because they were easier to shuffle.
Progress on the placemat squares. I might have enough squares done by tonight to sew the first placemat together. Soon we'll see if this idea will work out.
Plans for today: weave, play piano, go to the dentist in the afternoon and get the permanent crown put on.
