Jan and I biked upriver towards Oil City yesterday - as far as the last, biggest picnic spot before the sewage treatment plant. It was a good trip, though I was glad when it was over. Only 10 miles but my back, my butt and my shoulders where aching when we got back to Franklin. I do love biking but my body can't seem to do it for very long without seizing up. Here's some infrared pix of the river and trail:

I don't know if you remember but each spring I like to
check on a doll's head that I stashed beside the trail near a little bridge. This year I was disappointed to find that a work crew must have gone through and scooped up all the dirt and grass that was growing there to made a deeper ditch. The head was gone. But then on the way coming back I looked up and there it was! A worker had found it and put it up on a post on the other side of the trail. I was so glad to see she lives on!

Today is a free day. Nothing in particular planned. Just puttering around the house. I need to clean up the chicken coop and put some fresh litter in there. I haven't practiced piano much lately so I'm looking forward to doing that. Still working on two Leonard Cohen songs that I love: "Suzanne" and "Bird on a Wire". And there are potholders to weave for the new rug and bracelets with beads to knit on the lucet. Not lacking on things to do. Last evening Dave and I took the dogs for a walk on the rail trail near Kossuth. The trail is all cinders. When the dogs get their feet wet then the cinder dust clings to their legs. Rainy came home caked with cinder dust and so dirty. That will be something to do today - brush her out. And, I feel a spring time art work stirring. I got out my watercolor pencils and want to try playing with those. So much to do today!
