shine a light event

Here's some pictures from the Shine a Light on Suicide event that Dave and I went to last night at Two Mile Run County Park. We took the dogs and it was good and bad. Good because it was a super beautiful evening. Bad because Andy is not well trained at all. He just wanted to run and pull on the leash, visit other people and bark at other dogs. Finally we found a bench to sit on in the middle of an open space and told him to "sit!" and things settled down after that. I got some pictures but they were all pretty far from the lit up kayaks so not the best.

They had set up lights to spell HOPE on the dam. That was neat. There were quite a few fishermen on the shore too.

As we were leaving we went past the main event area.

We had a nice cook-out/birthday party today. Dave made vegan burgers for the vegans (Jules and Sebastian) and for me, and bison burgers for him and Mike and Chloe. I made potato salad using potatoes from Dave's garden. I'm starting to be really impressed by how much stuff we are getting from his garden this year. It was not near this good last year. Jules was surprised by the rock I painted for him and I think he liked it. He's a guy who always says he doesn't want anything. I said, well here's something for someone who doesn't want anything - a thing that no one needs.

Raining hard now. I still need to go out and put the chickens to bed for the night. Need to get my rain coat...
