Go ahead and write the letter to the editor. Our local symphony used to do live 1812 Overture so at least...it was real music and being played live..... but I agree with you, yuck yuck yuck.

Maybe I'm just old, or some kind of a fireworks purest but this is the first time I ever heard music playing while the fireworks were happening - and I did NOT like it.

Around here, 4th of July is always fireworks accompanied by music at the downtown event.

If you go to the lake shows, though... just fireworks.
And New Years was always just fireworks.

I didn't care about 4th of July fireworks since in about 2 weeks I will be in Venice seeing the Redentore fireworks... one of the biggest/best firework shows in the world. I was there in 2018... the couple on one side of me was from the UK, the couple on the other side of me was from India... both came just for Redentore... THAT'S how good the fireworks are.

I looked up the Redendore fireworks and wow! I hadn't heard of them before. Saw some youtubes. That will be fabulous!

I just happened to be in town for Redentore in 2018. This year we're planning for it!
