Yesterday was goat shed cleaning day. I didn't clean it last spring and I barely used it last summer. I have a journal that I keep in it and there was only one entry last summer. I'm planning to spend much more time out there this year. Pictures and a new configuration of furniture:
Everything out for a good cleaning.
I shall begin. The Webster was the perfect tool for the rafters and walls.
All back together again. Come into my world.
The bed is now on the opposite side.
I can sit at the table and look towards our house now - watch Dave if he's at his sawmill and see the chickens
The view while sitting at the table - looking towards Jules' house.
I'm going to plant some flowers in that pot this year. Maybe get a couple more potted plants to put on this shelf. I'm thinking hen and chicks will be nice. I can't have them low to the ground cause the chickens love to eat them but they should be safe up here. See the old train set that we rescued from John's old shed before we tore it down? I also saved two window panes.
Afterwards I lay on the bed for a while, just getting a feel for being there again. Called Kathy and we talked for a bit - they were having a rain storm with lots of wind. Then I went to the house and had dinner - yesterday's left over fish :-) and got some more energy. I planted the two clematis roots I had and some columbine seeds. Watered everything. I knew that it was supposed to rain last night and thought that would help too with soaking the dry dirt.
This morning as a celebration for getting the goat shed cleaned up I ordered a melodica to have out there. I've wanted one for a while and this was a good excuse (I thought).
More and more daffodils are opening up in the rows Rossy and I planted out front. It's a joy to see them.
Today. I'm thinking today would be a good day to get my bikes cleaned and ready for the summer. I had a dream last night where I was at a school where the desks were tucked into the bottoms of bunk beds. Many rows of desk/beds. There wasn't much room to walk between the rows and we had to go single file. School was going to be let out soon and I was packing my bags for the trip home. I rode my bike that day instead of taking the bus like the other kids and I was trying to figure out what I would put into my back pack and what would go into the bike bag. I was a little concerned about the trip home. It was a long way and I wanted to get home before dark. Chloe was in the class too (at the far side of the room) and she yelled across she had something to show me so I was trying to thread my way past the other students to get to her. She had some artworks that she had painted of horses in landscapes and they were quite beautiful. She had used heavy brushstrokes so that the horses were disguised somewhat. When you looked at the paintings at first you saw what looked like random brushstrokes going in many directions then as you studied it the parts of the landscape would resolve and the horses would appear. I was enthralled by them. A Mexican woman was cleaning the classroom as we were all leaving - she was spraying the desks and wiping them off. I stopped to thank her and was going to leave some money on my desk for her but I had to find my wallet in my backpack and it was taking some time to search through everything. End of dream.
So. The sun is shining after the rain last night. The birds are singing. A fresh glistening day. Time to get some breakfast...
