These have been coming up down over the hill ever since I can remember. I was told that Grandma planted them - now I'm not sure which grandma it was. But they're still coming up in the woods after probably 70 plus years. There are tons of ticks out now too. I found 6 on me after I walked to the creek with Rainy just now.
Earlier today Sebby and I hiked to the Bullion Furnace on the Kennerdell Tract. Perfect hiking weather - sunny, coolish. A 3.3 mile round trip loop. Pictures:
Bullion Furnace Trail.
This stream looks like it was paved with steps.
The first sight of the old Bullion Furnace.
The view as seen from where the trail takes you. It would be hard to climb down the hill to get close to it from here.
Another angle.
Facts. I suppose this furnace is about a mile and a half from the Allegheny River.
There was a place where every tree had this blue algae/fungus (?) on the north side of the tree along with the green moss. It looked bright blue in reality.
