belated picture post from wednesday at oil creek

I guess I was so tired and out of it on Thursday morning with the headache I totally forgot that I had pictures from hiking at Oil Creek with Jan the day before to look at. Pictures:

A little old tin building on the switchback trail. There are lots of these kinds of building in the woods here and there, left over from the old oil days.

The switchback trail. It was about here on the trail that a butterfly started to be with us, always a little bit ahead of us. As we would catch up it would take flight again and go a bit farther down the trail. It went like that for a long time. We would think it was gone and then there it would be again. Pretty sure it was a Mourning Cloak butterfly. There were some other kinds of fat flies low to the ground too, just waking up.

The foot bridge over Oil Creek. There is a picnic table to the left, not in the picture, where we sat and had a snack.

I liked this rooty tree.

At the top of the stairway going back down to the creek, with Jan's shadow too.

I always enjoy coming down these stairs to the bottom land.
