thursday - good morning

The question:
20 How well do you take criticism?
Not very well. My feelings are easily hurt - especially so if it's from someone I love and respect. Though it's not like I go on the offensive and criticize back - I'd just slink away in shame and die inside. Wait - need to correct this. If Dave criticizes me I DO fight back. I'm a feisty wife.

Good morning - beautiful morning. Sunny. It has cooled off considerably here. I am wearing long pants, socks and shoes and a hoodie this morning after weeks and weeks of sandals, shorts and just a t-shirt. We have had weeks of sweating and having the AC machine on so this coolness is welcome.

My piano lesson yesterday went well. She applauded my rendition of El Condor Pasa. She's easy to please though. I knew it wasn't perfect or even that good but I did get though it with only a few hesitations. Very slow. I'm finally learning to count the beats as I play. At first I couldn't even do that. 1,2,3,4,5,6 oops. I mean 1,2,3,4, 1,2,3,4. The correct rhythm helps a lot to make the song sound right. ;-) I still can't do it perfectly - many mistakes. But it's getting better and those triumphs feel really good. Dave likes to whistle. Which is something my dad did too. I love hearing him. He's very good at it and carries a tune well. Now that I am practicing El Condor Pasa a lot I've given him the ear-worm and many times in the day I can hear him outside whistling that tune. It's nice. The next song I want to learn on the piano is Scarborough Fair. I love those old folk songs.

Johnny and Alison said when they were here last that they would be back for Labor Day but yesterday he told Dave on the phone that they won't be. Disappointing. Maybe Thanksgiving...

A crotch rocket motorcycle just went by and the two horses that live across the road just took off running along side their fence as though to catch up with it. Now they have turned around and calmly gone back to grazing again.
